A snuggly cardigan in a truly unique fabric, this kit contains everything you need to make the Style Arc Sabel Cardi!
A snuggly cardigan in a truly unique fabric, this kit contains everything you need to make the Style Arc Sabel Cardi!
The Sabel is an oversized cardigan, with a straight cut that will keep you snuggly and warm all winter. It has a dropped armhole and features slim sleeves that compliment the otherwise roomy design.
On the front are large patch pockets and in her top tips video Lauren shows you a neat trick for getting these seamlessly pattern matched. A narrow neckband finishes off the front edge and provides balance to the whole garment.
In her video Lauren shows you how to use the leftover neckband fabric to create cuffs which can be added to the sleeves and she also discusses how to make Sabel cropped by shortening the pattern (as she did on the blue version).
What makes this cardigan really special is the one of a kind fabric we've sourced for the kits. This chunky wool blend is super soft and has a zigzag design knitted into the fabric. For such special fabric we've also chosen some pretty special buttons, made with bio-resin by Pigeon Wishes. Colour swirls through them making each one different. Now, which colour to choose?!
For this kit we've chosen two colours of this amazing knit: Blue Mountain zigzag and Pink Etna zigzag
This thick, squishy knit fabric is a wool blend and has a colourful zigzag pattern knitted into the fabric. It has two distinct sides which could both be used as the outer. In the samples we've used the more uniform, smoother side - the reverse has a more defined knit appearance.
The wool content in the fabric means it is cosy and warm, whilst its knitted construction provides it with a good amount of stretch. The fabric is 30% wool & 70% polyester.
For the neckband we have also included a smooth navy sweatshirting fabric, which is 70% cotton, 30% polyester. This can also be used to create optional cuffs.
To see the fabric close up check out the video in the main gallery above by swiping left.
This pattern is available in three size brackets: 4-16, 10-22, 18-30.
The measurements below are taken from the body measurement chart:
4-16 (bust 30.3-42.1", waist 23.5-35.5", hips 32.6-44.5")
10-22 (bust 36.2-48.8", waist 29.5-42", hips 38.6-51.2")
18-30 (bust 44.1-58.25", waist 37.5-50.5", hips 46.5-61")
Approx. finished garment measurements:
4-16 (bust 43-55", hem 39-51")
10-22 (bust 49-61", hem 45-58")
18-30 (bust 57-71", hem 53-67")
We think it's worth noting that this pattern has a lot of positive ease - that means it's designed to be fitted loose on the body. If you prefer a closer fit then you might consider sizing down by 1-2 sizes. In the modelled images the samples have been sewn to Lauren's measurements.

A physical print out of the instruction booklet will NOT be included. You can view the instruction booklet on your device, print it out at home, or add the 'printed pattern instructions' product (see link below) to your order and we will print it for you.
Alongside the purchase of this kit you will receive access to Lauren’s exclusive YouTube video to be used alongside the pattern instructions.
She shares her hints and tips on getting a really lovely finish on your garment including how to pattern match the cardigan and pockets, how to sew with a chunky knit, different methods for attaching the pockets, how to draft cuffs and much more!
The video has 34 minutes of footage, sectioned out with time stamps/chapters for easy reference and navigation.
The link to the video will be contained in your order confirmation email along with the pdf files, please file this safely for future reference.
Style Arc rate the difficulty for this pattern as Medium and we'd recommend this kit if you've made at least one other garment from stretch fabric.
The written instructions are fairly brief, but the construction itself is quite straightforward. The pattern matching requires some care, but both this and the construction are of course covered in detail in Lauren's video.
To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.
An overlocker can be used to finish your seams but Lauren also shows you how to do this with your sewing machine.
If you would like a printed copy of the instructions sent out with your kit, in addition to the PDF copy that you will receive, please see the related products below and add it to your cart as a separate product.
Your kit will be wrapped in tissue and beautifully presented in recyclable packaging.
