Oxbow Trousers Kit

A straightforward trouser that's the perfect introduction to jeans-making, this kit contains everything you need to make the Oxbow Trousers from Sew House Seven!

The Oxbow Trousers are a cool departure from a traditional pair of jeans and a great starting point if you've never sewn them before! They're simpler to sew than most traditional jeans patterns, but still have many of the definitive jeans features.

At the front there's a zip fly which is straightforward to construct and includes classic topstitching details. There's also patch pockets and you can choose the size depending on the style you want. The large pockets are caught in the side seam and are big enough for your phone, or you can choose smaller patch pockets which give the trousers a more 70s feel.

The trousers are fitted through the waist, hips and upper thighs with straight legs that are wide without being too voluminous. There's the option for a cropped trouser with view A, which is narrower at the knee giving a slight fare to the leg. Darts provide shaping at the back, where there is also large patch pockets.

The curved waistband at the top can be finished with a typical flush edge or an extended tab for extra interest. The instructions give advice on where to add topstitching and flat felled seams, for a really professional and durable finish.

The wide leg style of these trousers mean they're simpler to fit than tapered leg versions, which make them the ideal first pair if you're looking to dip your toe into the world of jeans-making!

There's three fabric options for this kit: Stonewashed Denim, Mid Blue Denim and Black Twill

These non-stretch fabrics are perfect for trousers and hold the wide leg shape of the Oxbows well. The denim fabrics are 11oz and the black twill is 11.5oz, making them very durable. All of the fabrics have the classic twill weave that jeans are known for.

The black twill also has a slight brushed finish, giving it a nap and making it really soft to the touch.

The stone washed and mid blue denim has been pre-treated during the manufacturing finishing process to create these classic lighter denim tones, which may have slight natural colour variance throughout the fabric. This adds to the character of the fabric and therefore the finished garment, and compliments how the fabric will wear in nicely as the jeans are washed and worn.

Both of the denims and the black twill are 100% cotton and will wear beautifully with time.
