Cassidy Wrap Top Kit

A gorgeous top to dress up or down, this kit includes everything you need to make the Cassidy Wrap Top from Helen’s Closet!

The Cassidy Top is no ordinary everyday top! Cassidy is a fitted wrap top which has plenty of details to set it apart from the rest of your wardrobe.

Cassidy has a secure wrap which stays in place during wear and a high enough neckline to provide good coverage, so you won’t be worried about any wardrobe malfunctions.

The bodice features grown-on sleeves which can be left short or finished with a full length sleeve if preferred. Shaping is provided by gentle gathers under the bust and on the back bodice, which is joined onto a peplum piece. This can either be made cropped or finished at hip height.

The front opening has a shaped facing which is topstitched down, so there’s no risk of it peeking out during wear. The top then closes with a tie which can either be made as a thin, dainty tie or a thicker tie which produces a lovely bow when tied. Either tie can be secured at the front or back, and we particularly love the wide one tied at the back for extra drama!

All kits contain enough fabric to make any version.

For this kit we’ve chosen three fabrics, each with different properties: Ecru Pinstripe Viscose Linen, Blue Bold Floral Cotton Sateen and Pink Geometric Flowers Viscose.

The Ecru Pinstripe is a viscose linen, which is one of our most popular fabric types. The viscose content provides great drape to the cloth whilst the linen fibres in it give that beautiful nubby texture that we love linen for. It is 78% viscose, 20% linen and 2% polyester.

The Blue Bold Floral is a cotton sateen fabric which is woven with a satin weave, giving the fabric a smooth finish and a slight sheen. It has a soft drape to it whilst still being stable to work with and is 100% cotton.

The Pink Geometric Flowers fabric is a lovely soft viscose on a plain weave base which has the great drape you would expect from this fabric. It is 100% viscose which means it’s breathable whilst still being opaque.

This pattern is available in two size ranges: US 0-22 (B Cup) and US 12-34 (D Cup). Bust 31-62”, waist 24-52” & hips 33-62”.

Helen’s Closet rate this pattern as suitable for intermediate makers as it includes elements such as a bias cut neckline and a topstitched facing in drapey fabrics.

The level of difficulty can be reduced by choosing the Blue Bold Floral cotton sateen version of the kit, as this fabric is more stable to work with.

To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.
