Blackwood Cardigan Kit

A lovely comfy and slouchy lighter weight cardigan for the Spring, Marchs kit includes everything you need to make the Helens Closet Blackwood Cardigan.

This is such a cosy and versatile addition to your wardrobe. Designed for layering in mind, this lighter weight version of the garment is great for transitioning between the seasons when you still need a bit of extra warmth but don’t want to over do it. It’s perfect for wearing under jackets while also looking stylish over t-shirts and dresses.

With minimal excess fabric in the front it is worn open and loose with no front closure, but with a closer fit around the neck and shoulders.

The set in sleeves also give a more fitted look over the shoulders compared to other slouchy style cardigans with drop sleeves.

Choose between two lengths: mid-thigh or hip length. You can also add on options pockets. The sleeves are extra long but can easily be shortened to your preference.

We have chosen 3 lovely fabrics for this cardigan

Ochre or Coral cheetah jacquard knit
- This fabric is 70% Cotton, 30% Polyester and has a lovely soft handle. It’s lightweight so perfect for a relaxed slouchy style.

Powder blue modal jersey
- this silky soft fabric is 95% modal, 5% elastance and was been knitted and dyed here in the UK especially for g&g. It’s lightweight handle gives a simple sophisticated look that feels really luxurious.

This pattern is aimed at Advanced beginners. If you are brand new to stretch fabric the cheetah jacquard fabrics are easier to work with than the powder blue modal.

To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.

An Overlocker is useful for finishing off the seam allowances, but is not essential, the garment can easily be made completely on a regular sewing using a stretch or zig zag stitch.

If you would like a printed copy of the instructions sent out with your kit, in addition to the PDF copy that you will receive, please see the related products below and add it to your cart as a separate product.

Your kit will be wrapped in tissue and beautifully presented in recyclable packaging.

We will aim to dispatch all kits as soon as possible after orders are placed, and we aim to have all kits shipped out by Friday 18th March.

As Sewing Society kits are processed and shipped from a different location to the shop, we are unable to group together kit orders with past or subsequent orders or combine orders retrospectively. Please click here for the full g&g Sewing Society shipping terms.
