You asked for more sleeve coverage for our much-loved Thora Top & Dress, so we’ve created a Sleeve Expansion Pack that gives you even more ways to make and wear your Thora.
With four new sleeve options ranging from simple and casual to beautifully detailed, you can transform the summery feel of the original Thora and enjoy wearing it throughout the year. Choose a little extra coverage for warmer days, add a relaxed 3/4 or long sleeve for the changing seasons, or completely change the feel of the pattern with our statement pleated cuff sleeve.
Four new sleeve options:
Short Sleeve A simple, relaxed short sleeve with a smooth sleeve head and neat turned-back hem. Perfect when you’d like more coverage than the original cap sleeve while retaining a warmer-weather feel.
Narrow Cuff Sleeve – 3/4 Length A relaxed sleeve with a smooth sleeve head and gentle volume through the arm, softly gathered into a narrow band at the hem for an easy, casual finish.
Narrow Cuff Sleeve – Long Length The same relaxed shape extended to full length and gathered into a narrow band at the wrist. A versatile everyday option that makes it easy to take your Thora into the cooler months.
Pleated Cuff Sleeve The statement option! A fuller long sleeve with gathers at both the sleeve head and wrist, finished with a deep cuff featuring five pleats, covered buttons and delicate thread loops. Make it in a beautiful drapey fabric to give your Thora a more sophisticated feel - perfect paired with smart trousers or a skirt when you want to dress it up.
One pattern, 6 sleeve styles, 12 different variations!
Together with the sleeveless and cap-sleeve options included in the original Thora pattern, you’ll now have six different sleeve styles to choose from.
Combine these with the Thora Top or Dress – with the option to make the dress with or without its waist tie – and you have an amazing 18 different Thora variations to make and wear!

Please note – you will need the original Thora pattern. This Sleeve Expansion Pack is not a standalone sewing pattern. You will need the original Guthrie & Ghani Thora Top & Dress Sewing Pattern to use the expansion. The pack contains the additional sleeve pattern pieces and instructions for making the four new sleeve variations; it does not contain the original Thora bodice, top or dress pattern pieces.
Light to mid-weight woven fabrics with a soft drape work best for Thora. Viscoses, cottons, lighter weight linen and linen viscose blends are all excellent choices and will show off the relaxed shape and soft details beautifully.
