Get ready for party season with this fancy top, our November g&g Sewing Society kit includes everything you need to make a fully lined sequin version of the Friday Pattern Company Square Neck Top.
The Square Neck Top is a simple, boxy dolman sleeved style with an on-trend square neckline. With it's slightly cropped length it's a really versatile pattern that can be made using stretch and woven fabrics!
Choose from two colourways of a fun sequin fabric - cool crushed ice (lighter, cooler shade) or champagne (warmer shade). This fine sequins are set on a light weight jersey backing fabric.
The lining is a soft and light weight viscose fabric for added comfort and coolness.
The full size range of this pattern is XS-7X (bust 34" - 61") and within that there are two front bodices to work with - either A/B cup or C/D cup.
This refers to dressmakers cup, not regular bra sizing. If you are unsure about what dressmakers cup size you are, please refer to this article.
Alongside the purchase of this kit you will receive access to Laurens exclusive YouTube video to be used alongside the pattern instructions.
The 30 minute video covers key construction steps including how to stabilise the neckline of the lining and main fabric with light weight interfacing, how to alter the neckline width and depth, how to sew with sequin fabric on a regular sewing machine, how to use hand sewing techniques to finish of the garment.
The link to the video will be contained in your order confirmation email along with the pdf files, please please file this safely for future reference.
This pattern is beginner friendly and as it is so versatile and can be used with both woven and stretch fabrics is a useful simple top to have.
In this version, the main challenges are getting used to sewing sequins and learning how to line a simple top (which is an extra step explained in the video for this kit, it is not included in the regular pattern).
To complete this project you'll need a regular sewing machine and basic sewing tools, find out what Lauren recommends in this article.
