Phoenix Blouse Kit

The delicately embroidered cotton double gauze brings floaty, bohemian vibes to this gorgeous blouse.

April's g&g Sewing Society kit contains everything you needs to make the Hey June Handmade Phoenix Blouse in a choice of 4 beautiful colours!

The Phoenix Blouse is a cute and casual boho style top in with several customisable features.

Choose between a 3/4 length bell sleeve or a flattering, summery sleeveless style. The front yoke panelled section has a central slit opening with subtle gathering at the bottom. There is also delicate gathers in the back bodice panel that fall nicely out of the v-shaped back yoke section.

Optional ties can be inserted either at the neckline or at the waist line to tie at the back and give more definition in this area.

Opt for a cropped waist length, perfect for pairing with high waisted jeans or shorts or a standard shirt length for even more floaty-ness!

The 4 gorgeous coloured fabrics options are Navy, White, Ochre and Fusion Coral.

Each fabric is 100% cotton double gauze with cotton embroidery running along one of the selvedge edges. It's this decorative detailing that gets used along the bottom hemline of this garment.

Cotton double gauze is two very fine and light weight layers of loosely woven cotton that are invisibly stitched together. It has an almost spongy, light and airy texture with a natural crinkle and 3D texture to the fabric giving a very natural, earthy feel.

This pattern comes in size range US 2-22. This covers HIGH bust measurement 31" - 43.5" and hip measurement 25" - 47.5".

The pattern is drafted for a Dressmakers B-cup, which is a difference of 2" between the high and full bust. There is a tutorial on the Hey June Handmade website on how to do a full bust adjustment on this pattern - linked here.

It is designed to be a loosely fitted garment over the full bust, waist and hip area.

Alongside the purchase of this kit you will receive access to a Lauren's exclusive YouTube video to be used alongside the pattern instructions.

She shares her hints and tips for getting a lovely finish including how to use a border print/design to feature at the bottom hemline of your garment, how to insert optional waistline ties for a different look, an alternative method for finishing off the seam allowances of the inside yoke, sewing French seams, the burrito method for yoke construction and much more!

The video has over 30 minutes of footage, sectioned out with time stamps/chapters for easy reference and navigation.

The link to the video will be contained in your order confirmation email along with the pdf files, please please file this safely for future reference.

There is no difficulty rating listed for the pattern, but we would suggest its best suited for confident beginners who have made several garments before to intermediate level sewists.

The loose weave and springy nature of the fabric can make it more fiddly to work with during certain stages of construction compared to a more stable cotton lawn fabric for example.

To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.

An Overlocker is useful for finishing off the seam allowances, but is not essential. If you don't have one then you can use a zig zag or overcast stitch on your regular sewing machine.

If you would like a printed copy of the instructions sent out with your kit, in addition to the PDF copy that you will receive, please see the related products below and add it to your cart as a separate product.
