Swoosh around with effortless style in this gorgeous shirt dress! Novembers g&g Sewing Society kit includes everything you need to make the Tilly and the Buttons Lyra Dress in a choice of two very special fabrics as we debut our very own, exclusive, beautifully stunning 'Chicacheetah' print!
The Lyra dress is a lovely loose fitting shirt dress with a blousy darted bodice, button band opening and two-piece collar. The gathered skirt can be hemmed just above the knee or have an added panel for an on-trend midi look.
With two sleeve options you can customise this dress to your preferred style and wear it year round made in different fabrics, dressed up or dressed down.
Give this super comfy style some shaping with an optional waist tie belt, held in place with dainty hand stitched thread loops and with hand in-seam pockets your on-person essentials can be close at hand!
Choose our stunning brand new and exclusive 'Chicacheetah' print designed by the very talented Rachel Parker exclusively for guthrie & ghani. Featuring a deep blue background with pops of bright colours from fuchsia, yellow, orange to teal and white, this print was inspired by the popular animal print trend but with an explosion of colour added in!
This fabric is on a soft and fluid 100% viscose base cloth with a plain weave giving it a smooth matt finish. It drapes beautifully and swishes in the fullness of the gathers in this dress.
Or opt for a classic light weight denim. This timeless shade will give you an everyday wearable dress that looks fantastic paired with cosy tights and boots in the winter but could just as easily be worn with sandals in the summer too!
This kit includes sizes UK 16-34 in a Dressmakers D-cup.
If you are unsure about what dressmakers cup size you are, please check out this article and note that it is different to what bra size you might wear.
Alongside the purchase of this kit you will receive access to a series of 2 of Laurens exclusive YouTube videos to be used alongside the pattern instructions.
She shares her hints and tips for getting a lovely finish including tips for working with viscose fabric, how to block fuse, how to sew French seams, how to reshape the collar to have rounded points, how to insert the sleeves in flat, how to sew in seam pockets with French seams and much more!
The videos have over 50 minutes of footage, sectioned out with time stamps/chapters for easy reference and navigation.
The link to the video will be contained in your order confirmation email along with the pdf files, please please file this safely for future reference.
This project is aimed at 'Improvers'. The collar and button band are the trickiest parts and between the two fabric choices for this kit, the viscose is more slippery to work with.
The instructions that come with all Tilly and the Buttons are very in depth, with lots of photographs, so along with Laurens top tips video, there is lots of help and support to teach you what may be the 'new to you' techniques involved in completing the project.
To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.
An Overlocker is useful for finishing off the seam allowances, but is not essential.
A buttonhole cutter is useful for opening up the buttonholes, but is not essential.
If you would like a printed copy of the instructions sent out with your kit, in addition to the PDF copy that you will receive, please see the related products below and add it to your cart as a separate product.
Your kit will be wrapped in tissue and beautifully presented in recyclable packaging.
