Emerson Trousers Kit

A simple and comfortable pull on pant/trouser - perfect to pair with your 'me made' top and blouses - July's Sewing Society kit includes everything you need to make a pair of True Bias Emersons!

The Emersons are a lovely pull-on, wide leg trouser with a comfortable elasticated back waist band and flattering front waist band, with top stitched pleats and slash front opening pockets.

Choose between a mid rise that sits just below the natural waistline or a high rise that sits just over the belly button. Go all out summer with a shorts version or opt for an on trend crop length, designed to hit above the ankle. You could even add on a few inches for a longer length style!

We have selected three classic colours from our popular Ramie fabric range for this kit: Washed Indigo, Muted Olive and Teal.

Ramie fabric is similar to linen fabric but it is derived from the stem of nettle plants, also known as China grass. It is very absorbent, strong - even when wet, breathable, durable and is also anti-bacterial.

It has a slubbed, textured surface that is more raised than linen fabric, which gives a really rustic, characterful appearance to the fabric. It feels a bit thicker and heavier than 100% enzyme washed linen. It is overall a more structured fabric, but still not stiff, and perfect for this wide leg style of trouser.

This pattern comes in two size bands. The PDF files are split across these size brackets and included in the kit you get BOTH PDF files with ONE A0 print out that you can select from the drop down menu above).

US 0-18 ( Waist 26" - 38.5", Hip 34" - 46.5")

US 14-32 (Waist 34.5" - 54.5", Hip 43.5" - 61.5")

The pattern is drafted for a height of 5ft 5".

We have split the fabric requirements across three size brackets to give you most flexibility in what fabric you need. You can select any fabric amount paired with any A0 print out. So for example if you are taller than the height the pattern has been drafted for and wanted to lengthen the pattern, you could select the 2.7m or 3.2m kit and select the Sizes 0-18 A0 print out.

Alongside the purchase of this kit you will receive access to Lauren's exclusive YouTube video to be used alongside the pattern instructions.

She shares her hints and tips getting a really lovely finish on your garment including working with Ramie fabric, choosing a size and making simple alterations, sewing the pleats, neatly, adding additional stitching to the elastic waist band and much, much more.

The video has over 18 minutes of footage, sectioned out with time stamps/chapters for easy reference and navigation.

The link to the video will be contained in your order confirmation email along with the pdf files, please please file this safely for future reference. You can also access the video links and PDF files when logged into the website.

This pattern is aimed at advanced beginner sewers. The fabric is nice and stable to work with and if you have made several garments before but are trying trousers for the first time, this is a lovely option!

To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.

An Overlocker is useful for finishing off the seam allowances, but is not essential, the garment can easily be made completely on a regular sewing.

The Ramie fabric will soften and relax when it is pressed with a really hot and steamy iron after washing, so it is recommended that you top your iron up with water to ensure steam can be generated and give it a good press.

If you would like a printed copy of the instructions sent out with your kit, in addition to the PDF copy that you will receive, please see the related products below and add it to your cart as a separate product.

Your kit will be wrapped in tissue and beautifully presented in recyclable packaging.
