Clare Coat Kit

This Clare Coat kit includes everything you need to make View B of this pattern - a classic minimalist style that hits hip height with in-seam pockets and features a dramatic funnel collar.

    The stunning Clare Coat is a chic-cool weather staple and will elevate your handmade wardrobe to the next level. With a simple raglan sleeve construction and unstructured A-line silhouette it is a great introduction to coat making.

    Choose from three gorgeous colours of the highest quality 100% melton wool fabric, made here in the UK at the Abraham Moon Mill (Find out more about how it is made in this video) - Candy Pink, Peacock Teal and Midnight Haze Blue.

    This kit is available in US sizes 0-20.

    • The pdf digital file for the Closet Core Patterns Clare Coat* (Size range: Bust 31" - 46") *The link to the pdf instruction booklet and A0 pdf pattern file for View A and View B will be contained in your order confirmation email.
    • A0 print out of the Closet Core Patterns Clare Coat View B *A physical print out of the instruction booklet will NOT be included. You can view the instruction booklet on your device at home, print it out at home, or add the 'printed pattern instructions' product (see link below) to your order and we will print it for you. View A is NOT included as a print out but you can make use of our pattern printing service if you wish this.
    • 2.5m Abraham Moon 100% melton wool (please choose colour way below) - enough to make any size included in the pattern.
    • 2m of coordinating viscose lining fabric
    • 5m iron on, woven cotton interfacing
    • Liberty Tana Cotton Lawn fat quarter
    • 6 square wooden buttons from The Textile Garden
    • 2.25m Cotton stay tape
    • Prym Sewing Machine Needles
    • 3 spools of 100m Gutermann Sew All Thread (2 for main fabric, 1 for lining)
    • Sew-in woven label - "Made by me with g&g'

    Alongside the purchase of this kit you will receive access to a series of Laurens exclusive YouTube videos to be used alongside the pattern instructions. The four videos can be used along side the pattern instructions and will explain how to spot fuse and interface the fabric for a longer lasting coat, how to make continuous binding for flat piping that can sit between the lining and facing, how to make bound buttonholes (this is optional), how to bag out the lining and how to finish tithe garment off with neat invisible hand stitching techniques.

    This project is aimed at intermediated sewers and is a perfect introduction to the world of coat making.

    To complete this project you'll need a basic sewing tools, find out what Lauren recommends in this article. You'll need a regular sewing machine. An Overlocker is useful but not essential.
