February

The first kit of the year was the Megan Nielsen Rowan Tee and Bodysuit pattern. We paired this with three gorgeous colour options of our beautifully soft modal loopback jersey fabric. In the accompanying video Lauren shared her top tips for sewing with jersey on a regular sewing machine which made this kit a great option for those new to sewing with stretch fabrics!

March

This was shirt month and we chose two classic patterns; The Blouse by Avid Seamstress and the Archer Shirt by Grainline Studio.

The Blouse was the perfect introduction to sewing shirts and blouses as it's made without darts and includes a button placket, collar and elasticated cuffs. We offered two fabric options included an elegant Atelier Brunette viscose and a classic white bamboo modal twill.

The Archer shirt is a gorgeous, traditional shirt pattern that we thought everyone needs in their wardrobe! For this pattern we matched a navy blue bamboo modal twill or Atelier Brunette Twig Blush viscose.

April

The Kelly Anorak was one of our most popular kits since we started The Sewing Society! An unlined, classic anorak from Closet Core patterns, we chose four colours of the most beautiful cotton twill; navy, dahlia, rose and sky. We sourced high quality, matching hardware and YKK zips to give your jackets an impressive, professional finish.

June

The warmer temperatures could only mean one thing - The Ogden Cami! With three, stunning Dashwood Studio viscoses to choose from, there was a colourway to suit everyone! An elegant, simple cami, this was a great wardrobe builder kit.

We also created the ultimate pair of summer linen trousers with the Merchant & Mills Eve pattern and navy, black and grey sorona linen fabric. With the breathability of linen and the drape and softness of viscose and sorona, this fabric had beautiful body and drape.

July

The Fiore Skirt by Closet Core was a wonderfully versatile kit option for beginner sewists. Made in viscose linen in either navy or red, this high waisted skirt had plenty of options for you to create your dream summer skirt!

The Wilder Gown from Friday Pattern Company was another incredible popular kit! With it's raglan sleeves, neck tie and customisable length options, this project was the perfect opportunity to practise sewing with slippery fabrics and using French seams!

August

To celebrate the arrival of our A0 printer, the Anna Allen Persephone Pants pattern was our first ever PDF pattern only kit! We offered 3 different colour options and included a beautiful piece of Liberty Tana Lawn for a pop of print on the pocket lining.

The Sallie Jumpsuit/Maxi Dress from Closet Core patterns offered tons of versatility with a number of customisable options including neckline, sleeves, skirt or culottes! With two beautiful tencel modal jerseys to choose from, this was such a fun project!

To complete the outfit we also created a super cute pair of Turia Dungarees by Pauline Alice, made up in a gloriously weighty navy stretch cotton twill. The perfect transitional outfit, these garments were perfect for chic layering, as well as being super comfortable!

October

The stunning Clare Coat from Closet Core Patterns is a chic-cool weather staple that we predict will elevate your handmade wardrobe to the next level! It was a wonderful introduction into coat making as it hosts a simple raglan sleeve construction and an unstructured a-line silhouette. We picked three gorgeous colours of the highest quality 100% melton wool fabric, made here in the UK at the Abraham Moon Mill, along with gorgeous wooden buttons and Liberty Tana Lawn for piping.

November

The Sudley top & dress from Megan Nielsen is endlessly versatile with collar, sleeve length and hem length options! We picked three different woven viscose fabrics to make an unlined version of the dress and in Laurens hints and tips video she shows you how to alter the pattern and add on additional tiers to make it a maxi or midi length.

Friday Pattern Company's Square Neck top is an easy to sew, boxy dolman sleeved top. Slightly cropped, this is a great option for pairing with your favourite jeans! We chose two beautiful shades of sequin fabric to make a sparkly party version and in her video Lauren explains how to line the top and stabilise the neckline for a neat finish and extra comfort for this sequin fabric.

December

The last set of kits for the year were themed around comfort and staying cosy at home!

We chose the Closet Core Carolyn Pyjamas that are a classic bottoms and top set, with a notched collar, curved hem and breast pocket with 3 sleeve options to choose from. Lauren shows you in her video how to make continuous bias tape to make flat piping for an elegant finish around the collar and cuffs. We had two lovely fabric choices, a crisp floral cotton lawn and a cosy brushed cotton/linen denim blue fabric, both trimmed with Liberty Tana Lawn flat piping.

The perfect pairing for the pyjamas, is the Named Clothing Lahja gown, which we matched up with three beautiful colours of cotton waffle fabric for ultimate luxury. This unisex pattern offers two versions - a shorter knee length with cropped sleeves or a longer version that extends to the midleg with full length sleeves. Both variations feature a large patch pocket, belt fastening and collar panel.
