As another lovely batch of fabrics arrived in the past few weeks I wanted to show you some of my top picks! To see how they move and drape check out the video below where I also mention that we've had a re-stock of some really popular fabric including the Atelier Brunette French terry fabric, the beautiful modal jersey, the super soft quilted jersey and and lush looped back, yarn dyed stripe jersey! Ahhh.....to much nice fabric for em to keep up with!
First up on my top new picks are these patterned ponte roma fabrics. They'd be great for casual tops and dresses like the Coco or a loose style cardigan like the Grainline Driftless Cardigan or Morris Blazer.
If you are after something a bit more classic then these lovely grey and monochrome designs are perfect! They are all stretchy jersey fabric too but a bit lighter weight with more drape than the thicker pontes above. They'd be great for tops and dresses too in fitted styles or garments that need the fabric to have a bit more drape and movement.
This next line of fabrics is something quite new for us! Sewing your own active wear is becoming increasingly popular and with Melissa Fehrs new book on sewing active wear on the horizon, I think it's really going to take off over the next few years!
So here is our first little dabble in active wear fabrics. We've got 5 lovely solid colours and one print which I think tones nicely with them - I especially love the deep fuchsia and bright lights combo! Check out Melissas patterns for active wear, or we also have the pacific leggings and dunbar top from Sewaholic.
Not sure about sewing with this type of fabric!? We've got a new yoga leggings workshop to get you going! Follow this link for booking info....
These next two bold striped jerseys are a lovely light weight - perfect for summer t-shirts and tops. I think they greeny one would also look amazing as a maxi skirt!
Or if you prefer something more plain, the tones of these lighter weight jerseys are also lovely as they have a marled effect which gives a nice texture - rather than a flat solid colour. All of them are great for tops and dresses that have a fuller design like the Moneta dress.
I hope thats given you lots of new project ideas! I'd love to hear what you'd make with them - just leave me a comment below.
All of our new fabrics stay in the 'Just Arrived' section for about 3 weeks so keep an eye out there for new things as they arrive each week - sometimes times we sell our really quickly before I have a chance to highlight them!
Until next time...happy sewing you lovely lot!
