Closet core patterns - Cropped ebony tee

As much as I love pretty dresses, especially in the summer time, it’s easy to wear, comfy separates that are the name of the game for me.

After making about a million (ok 6) Grainline Lindens and 3 Tilly and the Buttons Agnes tops over the past year or so, I wanted to try something else that fits that really comfy, really quick to make, really easy to wear category.

The Closet Core Patterns Ebony tee (which came out in January) is another gorgeous design from Heather-Lou and it has lots of variations, which is always a bonus!

You can opt for a cropped version, a tunic with raglan sleeves or a swingy dress. The choices don’t end there, customise your sleeve length and pick between a jewel or scooped neckline.

With my high waisted Ginger jeans on the go (see the finished version in this blog post) I opted for the cropped version.

I’m really liking that style at the moment and quite a lot of my tops are a bit shorter. It was great while I was still feeing Sophia regularly in the day and I could wear them over a vest top and easily lift up my outer layer. However, its getting a bit hot for two layers now and I don’t need to feed her during the day, so the combination of the high waisted gingers and the cropped ebony is a match made in heaven!

Due to the swingy fuller style of all the versions it is important to choose a fabric that has a lot of movement and drape.

I made mine with our charcoal and pastel pink striped lightweight poly viscose jersey. It’s so lovely and soft and comes in 3 other colour ways too.

It’s perfect for swishing about in!

I finished off the neckline with a twin needle too which is subtle but gives a nice touch.

I’m really pleased with how it turned out. It was so quick to make so I know I’ll be stitching up a few more before too long - I really fancy the tunic length!
