Nikko Top Kit

A super comfy and cosy long sleeved winter top staple that you can layer up with all your favourite handmade garments - this kit includes everything you need to make the lovely True Bias Nikko Top!

Layer up in style this winter with a snuggly long sleeved top with a mock turtle neckline to keep out those drafts! The True Bias Nikko Top (and Dress pattern) has a generous bodice length making it perfect for tucking in as well as sitting over your clothing.

The three lovely solid/plain colour options we have chosen will allow you to mix and match with other handmade items in your wardrobe for that complete 'me-made outfit' feeling!

We have chosen three lovely fabric options for this garment.

The deep teal modal jersey fabric is 95% modal and 5% spandex. It feels silky soft to touch and very luxurious to wear. It was dyed and knitted right here in the UK exclusively for g&g! It has a floppy structure with good recovery so it will sit flush with the neck when worn.

The black rib fabric is 100% cotton and has a chunkier rib texture. Knitted with thicker threads, it gives the fabric a firmer structure while still maintaining comfort. Its stretchability comes from the way it is knitted and therefore won't spring back into shape around the neck like fabrics that contain spandex. This means it will sit a bit looser around the neck line, as per the modelled photographs, and will still maintain an upright position.

The grey rib fabric is 50% cotton and 50% polyester. It has a soft and floppy feel to it with a finer, more detailed and intricate rib texture. It's very stretchy and has more bounce to it, so cut out in the correct way, it will sit flush with the neck when worn.s

This pattern is aimed at an advanced beginner. In terms of the construction, it is pretty simple and straight forward.

The main challenge posed with this kit is the fabric. The rib fabrics must be evenly stretched/relaxed as you cut out. The teal modal fabric is quite floppy and slippery. It is recommended that you have made some simple garments with stretch before trying this one out.

To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.

An Overlocker is useful for finishing off the seam allowances, but is not essential, the garment can easily be made completely on a regular sewing machine using a stretch stitch.

If you would like a printed copy of the instructions sent out with your kit, in addition to the PDF copy that you will receive, please see the related products below and add it to your cart as a separate product.

This kit is available for immediate dispatch. Your kit will be wrapped in tissue and beautifully presented in recyclable packaging.
