October New Fabric Arrivals

Lauren's selection of fancy party wear, cosy wools and check cottons!

I'm super excited to share another lovely selection of new fabric arrivals to the shop this month!

This month they are all woven fabrics - quite unlike us really as we so sell so much stretchy fabric, but I'm sure you will be inspired for new makes with these fabric delights!

See them up close and how they move in my latest Youtube video and find links to all the fabrics I mention in this blog post!

Featured Fabrics in this months round up

Special fabrics for looking fancy!

This selection of fabrics are perfect for more formal occasions if you are looking forward to a special occasion this coming festive season! Whether you enjoy dressing up on Christmas day or have a Christmas night out planned, I'm sure these lovely fabrics will spark lots of ideas!

Cosy checked / plaid fabrics

This colourful selection of checked fabrics are the perfect addition to a cosy handmade wardrobe. Some are wool/cotton mix fabrics for extra warmth, some are 100% with a fluffy brushed finish making them extra snuggly!

Warm Woollen Fabrics

These fabrics are (mostly) suited for coat and jacket projects. The wool content makes them nice and cosy. For more ideas of what to consider when planning to make a 'warm' garment - check out the linked blog post below!

Reversible Water repellant fabrics

These fun fabrics are like two in one! With two opposing colours on each side they would be great for a light weight unlined jacket or for adding some contrast to your projects with colour accents!

Yarn dyed cotton gauze

This lightweight fabric has a gorgeous texture with a crinkled cotton gauze base and intricate woven stripes with different patterns. This fabric would be perfect for a project where you could alter the direction of the stripes, which run parallel to the selvedge.

Bemberg cupro lining fabrics

This luxurious selection of fabrics is perfect for lining garments when you need lining to easily slide against other clothes, for example a coat or jacket lining, especially in the sleeves, or for a dress or skirt that you plan to wear over tights. They are a bit heavier than typical synthetic linings, but still breathable as they are derived from cotton fibres.

Viscose Prints

These pretty printed viscose fabrics are perfect for delicate tops, blouses and dresses. This fabric is still wearable at this time of year if you layer up cosy with cardigans and vests!

Classic plain cotton twills

This classic range of plain colours is such a versatile fabric! Use it for lighter weight jackets, non-stretch trousers, dungarees and pinafores.

Fun Dashwood Studio Prints

These fun prints from Dashwood Studio are great for making cheats patch work quilts! Check out my tutorial featuring the 'Good vibes' collection - you can now make this new design using the same technique!
