A classic, smart Autumnal trouser - perfect for pairing with your favourite handmade tops and blouses, this Sewing Society Kit contains everything you need to make the Anna Allen Philippa Pants.
The Philippa pants/trousers are a simple yet sturdy tapered leg trouser design with a slim fitting cut that skims the legs. The side seams are completely straight, just as jeans and pants were typically made in the 1930’s and 1940's, which along with their high waisted fit gives a really lovely silhouette.
The Philippa pants/trousers include waist shaping at the front/back, two back darts and features a classic button fly, back pockets and belt loops. The pant length ends at the ankle, but can be lengthened or shortened as desired.
The sanded 100% cotton twill fabric we have picked for this kit feels so luxurious with a slightly brushed finish. It's non-stretch and has a nice sturdy weight of 275gsm which gives a smooth finish to a more fitted style of trouser like the Philipa.
Choose from three neutral, classic colour-ways that will easily pair with so many other items in your handmade wardrobe: Navy, Black and Stone.
This pattern is available in sizes 00-22.
The waist measurement range is 24" - 41" and hip measurement range is 34" - 51".
Alongside the purchase of this kit you will receive access to Lauren's exclusive YouTube video to be used alongside the pattern instructions.
She shares her hints and tips getting a really lovely finish on your garment including working with a nap in the fabric, fitting guidance, sewing a button fly, getting neat top stitching, an alternative way to construct the waistband and much more.
The video has over 35 minutes of footage, sectioned out with time stamps/chapters for easy reference and navigation.
The link to the video will be contained in your order confirmation email along with the pdf files, please please file this safely for future reference. You can also access the video links and PDF files when logged into the website.
This pattern is aimed at advanced dressmakers and construction is fairly straightforward. Even the button fly is simple and arguably easier than a zip fly. As they are designed to be fitted around the waist and hips, you may want to toile the garment first using calico or other similar non-stretch fabric to master the fit before cutting into your kit fabric.
To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.
An Overlocker is useful for finishing off the seam allowances but is not essential.
If you would like a printed copy of the instructions sent out with your kit, in addition to the PDF copy that you will receive, please see the related products below and add it to your cart as a separate product.
Your kit will be wrapped in tissue and beautifully presented in recyclable packaging.
We will aim to dispatch all kits as soon as possible after orders are placed, and we aim to have all kits shipped out by Friday 21st October. Please note there are Royal Mail strikes during this window, so allow extra time for it to arrive once you receive your dispatch email.
If you order additional items along with your kit, your order will still dispatched within the shipping time frame outlined above, but may be closer towards the end of this time frame due to logistics.
