How it works

On the first Wednesday of each month, at midday UK time, we release 2 brand new Sewing Society kits that feature our favourite indie sewing patterns along with everything you need to complete that project with a choice of fabric options.

Those that are signed up to the newsletter get first access to the new kits, with any remaining stock going on general sale the following day.

Availability is limited and sometimes the kits can sell out quickly depending on demand at the time!

Each Sewing Society kit includes everything you need to make a beautiful garment, carefully curated by me. You’ll receive:

Exclusive fabric Selected for its quality, feel, and style, often only available through the kit.

A printed pattern A tried-and-tested pattern, handpicked to pair perfectly with the fabric, along with any special instructions.

Step-by-step video tutorials A Top Tips video full of all the tips and techniques to make your sewing journey easier and more enjoyable.

Any additional notions or extras If your project needs buttons, elastic, zips, or anything else, you’ll find it included in your kit!

Each kit is designed to be an all-in-one experience, helping you build your skills while creating something gorgeous.

No, this is not a subscription service. Each kit can be purchased independently each month and there is no charge to sign up to the newsletter.

As we will feature different patterns with different fabrics each month, the price of the kits will vary and reflect the amount of fabric and the number of haberdashery notions that you need for the project.

As a guthrie&ghani newsletter subscriber you will ALWAYS have exclusive access to the Sewing Society Kits - even on those live releases.

This means you will have a higher chance of securing a kit before they sell out.

The kits will be promoted for general sale from the following day of original release.

Exclusive fabric refers to materials that are specially chosen or created just for our Sewing Society kits, often only available here at Guthrie & Ghani. Where possible, we include fabrics that are designed by Lauren, ensuring they’re unique to our store. In the past, we’ve also had custom colourways dyed specifically to complement a project’s pattern or to match the season, giving you a truly one-of-a-kind sewing experience. These fabrics aren’t available anywhere else, making your make even more special!

This will vary each month. Some will be suitable for those still new to dressmaking while others will be great for advancing your skills to the next level and taking on a challenge.

The type of fabric will also vary each month and be a mixture of stretch and woven base cloths with a focus on natural fibres.

A specific date range of dispatch for each kit will be detailed in the listing for the kit. Normally the max dispatch time is approx 2 weeks after the kits go on sale but you may receive it sooner.

Please pay close attention to this date range so you know when you expect your kit.

All kits will be sent out in recyclable packaging with everything neatly packaged up inside. It’ll be like getting a little present each month - or a perfect ready made gift for a friend!

International orders or orders for both kits on sale at the same time may be placed in a compostable mail sack for extra protection during transit.

Sometimes there may be small amounts of fabric left over once our kits are produced, though this is not guaranteed. If you would like to be added to the waiting list and be informed if any fabric is available, do email us on info@guthrie-ghani.co.uk.

For each release there is only a limited number of kits that are produced in each fabric - once these have sold we don't make any more up. So if your heart is set on one do snap it up before it's gone!

We keep an archive of past kits for inspiration, which you can find here. We may very occasionally use the same pattern again in a kit, but it would always be in a different fabric.

We work with a wide range of independent pattern companies, to bring you a broad selection of designs and styles. For each kit we receive a licence from the designer to print the A0 pattern sheets that are included in the kit. You will also have access to the digital PDF files for the pattern in your kit, meaning you can print them again if you'd like to in future.
