The Ember Dress from Sew Liberated is a loose-fitting dress with a gentle V-shaped neckline, which is designed to give you both style and comfort! At the top of the flowing, midi-length skirt, adjustable waist ties make it easy to adapt the fit of the dress and create shape without feeling restricted.
The skirt is shaped with princess seams that add swing to the hem of the dress, perfect for that lovely movement as you walk. Hidden inseam pockets are set into the side seams - a practical detail you’ll really appreciate day to day!
The princess seamlines continue from the skirt up into the bodice, providing gentle shaping to the top. These seams can be easily tweaked to your preferred shape - another feature that makes Ember simple to fit!
You can choose between two romantic sleeve styles, depending on the look you prefer. In her Top Tips video, Lauren also demonstrates how to adapt the pattern to make a sleeveless version, giving you even more versatility for warmer weather or layering.
For this kit, we’ve used fabrics from our exclusive Flùr collection, with three designs inspired by Scottish wildflowers. They bring a softness and whimsical character to the dress, making it a relaxed fitting garment that still feels special.

Lauren’s Posy and Dreams dresses have been shortened, but Belle’s Meadow dress is the original pattern length. The fabric included in this kit is enough to make either view of the dress with ¾ length sleeves.

This collection is inspired by the beautful wildflowers found growing across Scotland’s landscapes, from open meadows to coastal grasslands.
Flùr Meadow is the boldest design in the collection, with simplified floral shapes layered across the cream background to create movement and flow. Inspired by flowers such as harebell, ragged-robin and marsh marigold, the print captures the feeling of wild blooms scattered across a landscape, with a softer, more expressive take on these natural forms. It is 100% viscose with a weight of 120gsm.
Flùr Dreams is set against a soft blue background. The design takes on a slightly different feel, with a slightly larger scale and more spaced out layout, while still keeping that sense of breezy flower meadows. Like Flùr Meadow it is also 100% viscose and has the same weight.
Flùr Posy is the most subtle design in the collection, with smaller clusters of floral shapes with more of the cream base fabric visible throughout. Inspired by flowers such as heather, primrose and ragged-robin, arranged together into wildflower bouquets. It is 70% viscose and 30% linen, with a weight of 200gsm.

The Ember Dress pattern from Sew Liberated included in the kit is yours to keep! Not only do you get the full sized A0 print out included in your kit box on delivery, you also have access to the PDF files for your future refernece, meaning you can remake the dress in different fabrics and styles long after this kit is complete.
Ember is a loose-fitting pull-on dress with a tied waist and V-neckline. The waist is tightened with ties on each side, and gathered through a tie channel on the front and back.
The V neckline is finished with a shaped facing, for a clean finish. Choose between a gathered bishop sleeve, or one that is cinched in with elastic, creating a ruffle at the hem.
The bodice and skirt feature princess seams on the front and back, with plenty of hem swing in the skirt for a dramatic twirl. There are inseam pockets set into the side seams of the midi-length skirt.
This pattern is available in US sizes 0-34. There are two size options for this kit:
US 0-24: Bust 31 - 48.5" (79 - 123cm), waist 25 - 42.5” (64 - 108cm), hip 33.5 - 51” (85 - 130cm)
US 22-34: Bust 46.5 - 58.5" (118 - 149cm), waist 40.5 - 52.5” (103 - 133cm), hip 49 - 61” (124 - 155)

Please note, the fabric in this kit is enough to make either dress with 3/4 length sleeves. If you would prefer to make full length sleeves you may need to purchase additional fabric.

In her exclusive video tutorial, Lauren shows you how to:
- accurately cut out viscose fabrics
- use forming tape to stabilise the necklines
- turn through the ties with two different methods
- sew beautifully shaped princess seams
- insert hidden in-seam pockets
- sew two different styles of sleeve
She also demonstrates how to make your Ember pattern even more versatile for the warmer weather by making it sleeveless; walking you through how to adapt your pattern and finish the armhole with delicate bias binding.

This pattern is rated as suitable for confident beginner dressmakers.
Techniques include sewing princess seams, setting in sleeves, sewing in-seam pockets, sewing a sleeve cuff or elastic casing and turning ties through.
To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.
