I'm so excited to share this month's new fabric arrivals with you. June's collection is full of beautiful textures and colours that feel perfect for summer sewing, with plenty of inspiration for tops, dresses, shirts and lightweight layering pieces.

This month you'll find a lovely mix of dobby cottons, seersuckers, double gauze and embroidered cotton gauze, alongside drapey viscose fabrics, practical jersey options and some gorgeous crochet-effect knits. There are lots of fabrics that bring interest through texture as well as print, making them ideal for creating garments that feel special while still being easy to wear.

As always, I've put together a corresponding YouTube video where I chat through all of the fabrics in more detail, showing you the texture, drape and details that can sometimes be difficult to appreciate when shopping online. So grab a cuppa and join me for a browse through this month's new arrivals.

What I'm wearing

In this video I'm wearing my one of my latest makes, the Closet Core Azure Top, with a button band hack down the centre front. You can check out how I did this in the blog post lined at the end of this post. I used the Fabric Godmother Butter Yellow Palm Tree Broderie Anglaise Fabric with the matching lining and I'm so pleased with how it turned out! Perfect for summer!

Textured Summer Cotton Gauzes

These beautiful cotton gauze fabrics are all about texture and interest. The reversible double gauzes feature two coordinating designs in one fabric, giving you lots of creative options for garments, facings and design details. Alongside them, the embroidered zigzag cotton gauzes have a lovely textured finish that adds subtle detail while still being easy to wear. Perfect for tops, dresses and lightweight summer layers, these fabrics combine softness, breathability and plenty of character.

Textured Summer Cottons

If you love fabrics with plenty of texture and character, these cottons are well worth a look. From soft seersuckers and dobby weaves to subtle woven spots, they bring lots of interest to a garment without relying on bold prints. The fresh colours and lightweight feel make them perfect for summer dresses, tops and shirts, while the textured finish helps add depth and detail to even the simplest sewing patterns.

Drapey Summer Viscoses

These new viscose fabrics are perfect if you're looking to add a little colour and movement to your summer wardrobe. From painterly florals and bold botanicals to the striking brushstroke print, they all have a lovely fluid drape that works beautifully for dresses, blouses, shirts and wide-leg trousers. The scale of the prints makes them ideal for simple garment styles where the fabric can really take centre stage.

Reversible Quilted Cottons

These reversible quilted cottons are a fantastic option if you're looking for a fabric that does a lot of the work for you. With a different print on each side, they offer plenty of creative possibilities for jackets, gilets, bags and accessories, and they look especially effective when you can show off both sides through design details such as pockets, facings or bound edges. The lightweight quilting makes them easy to sew while still adding warmth, structure and plenty of visual interest to a project.

Stripes, Knits & Casual Sewing Projects

If you're planning comfortable everyday makes, these fabrics are packed with possibilities. The striped French terry fabrics are ideal for sweatshirts, Coco tops and lightweight layering pieces, while the ribbed stripe jerseys are perfect for easy-to-wear t-shirts and close-fitting tops. For something a little different, the crochet-effect knits bring lovely texture and a handmade feel without the time commitment of crocheting it yourself. A great selection for relaxed weekend sewing projects and wardrobe staples you'll reach for again and again.

I hope you have found this lovely selection of fabrics inspiring and are feeling inspired to sew for summer!
