Our Gorgeous Summer Window Display

I've got our latest gorgeous new window display to share with you in this post. We love our big light, bright and airy bay window in the shop. It floods the place with light and is a great stage to showcase all the lovely fabrics we have in the shop. Jo designs the most beautiful, well thought out schemes and this new one for summer is no exception.

With soft pastel shades and fun fabric kites with cute bow strings, this is such a fun and playful display. We have featured the adult and child versions of a couple of the patterns from the Ikatee sewing pattern range along with a really lovely and simple quick make raglan t-shirt - all the fabric and pattern and details are below.

The Alex Shirt and Shirt Dress

The Ikatee Alex Blouse/Dress Sewing Pattern is a lovely shirt pattern, with lots of customisable features to design your own version of the garment. Make it a mid length blouse or a knee length dress, choose from 2 sleeve options: short puffed or long gathered with a cuff and a slit and 3 collar options: collar shirt, stand-up collar or a neck bow. It has a shoulder yoke with a gathered front and back pleat and you can add optional heart shaped pockets and belt with belt loops.

Both of our versions are made using the dobby stripe cotton fabric, which is lovely and light weight with lots of detail and texture woven into the fabric.

The Waterfall Raglan Tee

The Chalk And Notch Waterfall Raglan is a simple swing shape knit top or dress. Choose from a cropped length and a top or dress with a ruffle panel at the bottom. The slim fit sleeve has 3 length options making this pattern really versatile.

For our sample we used a cotton bamboo blended fabric with a delicate sketched botanical design on it but there are lots of different options for this style. Opt for a cotton jersey from our basics organic range for something that's easier to work with and will hold its shape a bit more. The range of plain tencel jerseys will give a really swishy version with lots of drape and the loop back jersey modal is a heavier option that will also have a nice amount of drape.

The Anna Dress

The Ikatee Adult Anna Dress Sewing Pattern is a lovely, versatile pattern and also has lots of options and features to choose from and create your own interpretation of the design. Opt for long or short sleeves that have a really pretty tie detail. The length of the skirt section and the combination of the panels can easily be changed to your preference as its simple rectangles. It has a buttoned front opening with a facing and an unusual crossed back bodice.

For our adult version we used a 100% yarn dyed linen, but the pattern can be really versatile for a variety of different types of fabrics from more structured cottons or cotton/linens (that's what we used for the mini version) to something that has much more drape like a viscose or tencel fabric.
