A handy bag in amazing fabrics, this kit includes everything you need to make the Young Power Bag from Niizo Craft!
The Young Power Bag is a versatile cross body bag that will keep your essentials secure and close to hand and is the perfect spring accessory in these amazing fabrics. It’s small and compact, but you’ll be surprised at just how much it will hold!
With a slightly rounded shape, it features a top cover which is secured with a magnetic snap. Under this is a hard wearing brass zip which is set into the outer panel. To match the zip we’ve also sourced antique brass d-rings, snap hooks and sliders which give a really professional finish to the bag. These are used on the strap which is both adjustable and removable, so the bag can also function as a shoulder bag or a clutch if you’d prefer!
Inside, the Young Power Bag is fully lined and features two handy pockets. The first is a simple slip pocket (which will easily hold a large phone!) and the second is a gusseted pocket with two sections for bulkier items. Hidden between the inner and outer layers of the bag is a lightweight, foamed fabric which helps the bag to keep its shape and also provides gentle cushioning.
The outside of the bag is finished with neat piping in the seams, but it’s also possible to make a simpler version of the bag without this (as we did on the mid blue sample). In her top tips video, Lauren demonstrates several methods for installing the magnetic snap in the top cover, as well as an alternative front view without the top cover and with an outer slip pocket instead.
This little bag is a satisfying make that will stretch your sewing skills and teach you new techniques. Truly a sew to make you proud of yourself which will have all your friends asking where you got it!
The fabric for this kit is available in three colourways: coral, duck egg and mid blue
This gorgeous fabric is a woven jacquard that was made in France especially for us here at guthrie & ghani. It has a soft and slightly bouncy texture to it. The back of the fabric is a reverse of the front side, so you can have fun playing around with using both sides if you like. The fabric is 60% cotton and 40% polyester.
For the bag lining we’ve chosen a cute pin dot cotton, made in Japan by Sevenberry. It is 100% cotton.

This pattern is one size. Approximate finished measurements are: 22 x 15 x 7cm
A physical print out of the instruction booklet will NOT be included. You can view the instruction booklet on your device at home, print it out at home, or add the 'printed pattern instructions' product (see link below) to your order and we will print it for you.
Alongside the purchase of this kit you will receive access to Lauren’s exclusive YouTube video to be used alongside the pattern instructions.
She shares her hints and tips on getting a really lovely finish on your bag including how to sew piping, how to attach the hardware, alternatives to the leather details, how to install the zip, how to make a slip pocket on the front and how to line the bag.
The video has over 53 minutes of footage, sectioned out with time stamps/chapters for easy reference and navigation.
The link to the video will be contained in your order confirmation email along with the pdf files, please file this safely for future reference.
Niizo Craft rate the difficulty level of this pattern as 4/5 as the seams are bulky in places and the piping requires extra precision (though this can be omitted). These elements are of course covered in Lauren's top tips video.
To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.
If you would like a printed copy of the instructions sent out with your kit, in addition to the PDF copy that you will receive, please see the related products below and add it to your cart as a separate product.
