A spacious and stylish bag for all your Summer adventures, this Sewing Society Kit contains everything you need to make the g&g exclusive Luskentyre Bag!
The Luskentyre Bag is a roomy shoulder bag which can comfortably hold all your essentials for a day at the beach, pool or for a picnic in the park! This Sewing Society exclusive pattern has been designed by Lauren and is her ideal bag for a summer (or winter!) adventure.
The Luskentyre Bag has a large interior which is fully lined and can be finished off with an optional drawstring closure. This nifty feature means the inside of the bag can expand, so it can hold a lot while still keeping all your contents secure.
It has two external pockets which are perfect for quick access items, so you know exactly where your sunglasses are when the sun appears! An optional zip can be added to one of the pockets to help keep important items safe. The pockets sit between the straps, which are stitched directly onto the outer fabric, making them super strong. The base of the bag is also reinforced with specialist sturdy buckram interfacing, giving a defined base.
The Luskentyre bag is a straightforward sew with clever details and is a great showcase for bold fabrics, such as the gorgeous French jacquards we've chosen for the kit.
Luskentyre was designed with the beach in mind but has plenty of other uses if you don't have a beach trip planned soon. It's perfect for a weekend getaway, for taking your projects to your sewing class, or simply for carrying your shopping!
For this kit we've chosen these beautiful jacquards in three colourful designs: Summer Pop Fun, Neon Garden and Sail Away.
The fabric was woven in France and this batch has been produced especially for us at g&g.
Summer Pop Fun has quirky details such as cocktail glasses and flamingos stitched in bright neon colours onto a cream background. It is made up of 54% polyester, 43% cotton & 3% other fibres
Neon Garden is like an explosion of flowers in a summer garden and has brightly coloured threads woven through it. It is the most densely woven design of the three fabrics and is made of 50% polyester, 27% cotton, 2% other fibres, 1% metallised polyester
Sail Away is an abstract take on classic nautical, scattered with cream triangles like sailboats on the sea. It is made of 83% cotton & 17% polyester.
The Luskentyre bag is one size. The finished dimensions are approximately 42cm (height) x 42cm (width) x 17cm (depth)
A physical print out of the instruction booklet will NOT be included. You can view the instruction booklet on your device at home, print it out at home, or add the 'printed pattern instructions' product (see link below) to your order and we will print it for you.
The instruction booklet contains full colour pictures. Therefore if you plan to print the instructions on your home printer we recommend printing them in colour, rather than black and white.
Alongside the purchase of this kit you will receive access to Lauren's exclusive YouTube video to be used alongside the pattern instructions.
She shares her hints and tips on getting a really lovely finish on your bag including how to cut the patterned fabric, how to create a zip pocket, how to sew a drawstring panel, how to use the specialist buckram interfacing, how to insert the lining and much more!
The video has 45 minutes of footage, sectioned out with time stamps/chapters for easy reference and navigation.
The link to the video will be contained in your order confirmation email along with the pdf files, please file this safely for future reference. You can also access the video links and PDF files when logged into the website.
This pattern is aimed at advanced beginners.
The construction itself is fairly simple and there is, of course, no fitting to do. The main challenges of this make would be handling bulky seams and sewing the zip, which are covered in more detail in Lauren's top tips videos.
To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.
A rotary cutter and mat can be helpful when cutting out the bag to get the pieces as accurate as possible, though they can also be cut with normal fabric shears. Fabric clips can also be used to hold thicker layers together when sewing.
If you would like a printed copy of the instructions sent out with your kit, in addition to the PDF copy that you will receive, please see the related products below and add it to your cart as a separate product.
Your kit will be wrapped in tissue and beautifully presented in recyclable packaging.
We will aim to dispatch all kits as soon as possible after orders are placed, and we aim to have all kits shipped out by Friday 23rd June.
As Sewing Society kits are processed and shipped from a different location to the shop, we are unable to group together kit orders with past or subsequent orders or combine orders retrospectively. Please click here for the full g&g Sewing Society shipping terms.
