Jarrah Sweater Kit sizes 14-30

Happy Birthday guthrie & ghani! This Sewing Society kit for April contains everything you need to make the classic and comfy Jarrah Sweater by Megan Nielsen.

The Jarrah Sweater by Megan Nielsen is a loose fit drop shoulder sweater with a modern edge for easy style.

This kit can be made up into a comfy sweater with cuffs and a hem band, or sew the unique waist tie version for a playful twist on this classic garment.

For this special edition birthday kit we've brought back our hugely popular 'Chicacheetah' print designed by Rachel Parker on a delightfully soft Organic Cotton French Terry Loopback fabric. We've paired it with perfectly matched organic cotton ribbing fabric to complete the look.

The lighter-medium weight French Terry fabric turns the Jarrah into the perfect light layer for spring. But don't bank on only making one Jarrah, this is a pattern you'll want to use again and again! This pattern is quick and simple to make and is the ideal introduction for anyone new to sewing with stretch fabrics.

In her hints and tips video Lauren talks you through some extra features to add to your sweater, including a neck facing to showcase details of the fabric's print, a more fitted hem band and a tie facing for an alternative finish.

The fabric included in this kit is enough to make views A (sweater with cuff and hem band) or C (sweater with waist tie and cuffs).

This gorgeous organic cotton French Terry is available in three colours: pink, sky blue and navy.

The vibrant 'Chicacheetah' print was designed by Rachel Parker exclusively for guthrie & ghani. For this special edition 10th birthday kit, the design has been adapted and reimagined in new colourways to make the perfect sweatshirt fabric. A special touch for an everyday item!

French Terry, also known as loopback jersey, is a medium weight fabric, though lighter than traditional sweatshirting fabrics. This makes it ideal for a spring jumper and the fabric's 5% elastane content means it has great recovery and is really comfortable to wear.

Also included in this kit is custom dyed organic cotton ribbing. This perfectly matched 2 x 2 rib fabric has a great amount of stretch and helps to elevate the sweater, giving a professional finish.

Organic cotton is produced in a way which is much gentler on the environment than regular cotton. It is made without the use of synthetic pesticides which means it does not harm the local ecosystem and helps to nurture healthy soils, as well as protecting the farmers.

The pattern in this kit is in sizes 14-30.

The bust measurement range is 40" - 56".

This kit is also available in Megan Nielsen's 0-20 size range, which you can find here.

Megan Neilsen rate the difficulty for this pattern as 1/5.

We'd class it as a confident beginner level pattern as the construction is very straightforward and is a good introduction to knit fabrics.

To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.

An overlocker can be used for finishing off the seam allowances but is not essential.
