Keep yourself snug and dry this winter, this Sewing Society Kit contains everything you need to make the on trend Megan Nielsen Hovea Jacket.
Keep yourself snug and dry this winter, this Sewing Society Kit contains everything you need to make the on trend Megan Nielsen Hovea Jacket.
The simple and classic design of the Hovea offers a loose fit, drop-shoulder jacket with multiple length options. Choose between a cosy collar band, or opt for a simpler look with fully bound edges. All internal seams of the jacket are bound, giving a really professional finish on the inside too.
The fit of the jacket means it can be easily layered up over snuggly cardigans and jumpers, but equally it looks great over a simple top, so will keep you looking stylish until Spring! Optional ties can be added at the front to keep the jacket closed.
The Hovea Jacket can be made up in many different fabrics, but what really makes this kit special is the unique Mind the Maker quilted fabric we've included. This on trend fabric comes in three different quilted designs and is water repellant, whilst also being beautifully soft to wear. There's enough fabric in the kit to make either the cropped or mid length jackets, which both have roomy pockets.
We have included enough binding in this kit to bind the internal seams of the jacket. If you could like to make the versions with bound external seams (views B & F) then there is the option to purchase extra binding - see the listing below for this.
We have chosen three gorgeous colours of this distinctive quilted fabric: bottle green, calm grey and green khaki.
From the designer Mind the Maker, each shade of this pre-quilted fabric has a unique quilted design. Bottle green has a wave inspired design, calm grey has diamond-shaped gem stitching lines and green khaki has classic straight quilting lines.
This one of a kind fabric is double sided, with a semi-matt finish, making it soft to the touch and comfortable to wear. It is a polyester pongee fabric, which means it has water repellant properties that will help keep you nice and dry, whilst also being anti-static, windproof and oil-proof. It's a lovely weight at 220gsm and has a very high 300T thread count.
The fabric's wadding is polyester which adds to its thermal properties. Also included in the kit is bias binding which is a perfect colour match for the quilted fabric.
This pattern is available in sizes 0-20.
The bust measurement range is 32"-46", waist measurement range is 24"-38" and hip measurement range is 34"-48".

*If you would like to make the views with the external binding (views B & F) then additional binding can be purchased separately - please see the listing below.
Alongside the purchase of this kit you will receive access to Lauren's exclusive YouTube video to be used alongside the pattern instructions.
She shares her hints and tips for getting a really lovely finish on your garment including lots tips for working with pre-quilted fabric, how to prevent fabric tucks, how to apply beautifully neat bias binding, how to pattern match and much more!
The video has over 45 minutes of footage, sectioned out with time stamps/chapters for easy reference and navigation.
The link to the video will be contained in your order confirmation email along with the pdf files, please please file this safely for future reference. You can also access the video links and PDF files when logged into the website.
Megan Nielsen rate the pattern difficulty level as 2/5. However, we'd class this kit as a whole as intermediate. This is because the fabric requires some additional skills, such as experience with working with slippy fabrics such as viscose or tencel. Though Lauren's videos are packed with extra tips on making the fabric as easy to work with as possible.
To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.
A walking foot for your sewing machine is useful for working with the quilted fabric. A pressing cloth will help protect the fabric during ironing. Fabric clips can be helpful when applying the binding and a glue stick will make preparing the hanging loop and ties easier. You'll also need a hand sewing needle to get a neater finish.
If you would like a printed copy of the instructions sent out with your kit, in addition to the PDF copy that you will receive, please see the related products below and add it to your cart as a separate product.
Your kit will be wrapped in tissue and beautifully presented in recyclable packaging.
