A versatile trouser in some lovely soft needlecord, this kit includes everything you need to make the Billie Trousers from Fibre Mood.
The Billie Trouser is a classic everyday trouser and a wardrobe staple. They have a slim leg which gently tapers towards the ankle, whilst still being roomy around the thigh, with a rise that sits about an inch below the natural waist.
At the front there’s a fly zip, which is straightforward to sew and comes together easily. Shaping is provided at the back by simple darts and the contoured waistband is made up of three pieces, making it easy to adjust.
Hidden in the side seams you’ll find some cleverly sewn pockets and in her tips video Lauren shows you how to create an additional facing piece for these so your pocket lining doesn’t peek out.
The trousers have a cropped ankle length, but we’ve included enough fabric in the kits to extend them to full length (as we did on the tan and green samples). Lauren demonstrates how to make this simple pattern adjustment in her accompanying video.
And for a beautiful finish on the inside she also shows you how to create continuous bias binding from your leftover pocket fabric and how to then use this to sew a neat Hong Kong finish on the inner waistband and fly. A technique you’ll want to use on all your makes!
For this kit we’ve chosen a lovely needlecord in three muted colours: navy, green and tan.
This high-quality fabric is so soft to the touch. It has a gentle drape with enough body to hold the shape of the leg. The needlecord is 98% cotton and 2% elastane, giving the fabric a slight stretch and making the trousers very comfortable to wear. To compliment the fabrics we’ve chosen imitation wood buttons in matching shades from the Textile Garden.
For the pocket lining we’ve kept things simple and included a 100% cotton, navy poplin. This fabric is really easy to work with and keeps the pockets nice and sleek.

This pattern is available in UK sizes 4-30. Waist 26-50”, hip 34-55”.
