Rosemary is a chic A-line skirt with simple, elegant lines that make it endlessly wearable. Dress it up with heels, or lean into 90s nostalgia with chunky knits and boots. To help you make it just right for your style, we have also included enough fabric to add up to 20 cm to the length, so you can play with proportions and find the silhouette that suits you best.

The fabric in this kit is something really special. This British-made wool comes in a beautiful check design and is warm, durable and timeless. It's are naturally breathable, so your skirt will feel cosy but never heavy, making it ideal for year-round wear. Wool also sews up like a dream. It’s stable, smooth, and incredibly satisfying when you see those checks lining up neatly at the seams.

To give your skirt a finish that feels as lovely inside as it does outside, we have paired this tartan wool with a silky lining fabric, perfect for layering over tights or leggings without everything sticking as you walk. In Lauren’s exclusive Top Tips video, she shows you how to draft your own lining pattern, a technique you can easily use again on future projects. She also demonstrates how to reposition the invisible zip to the side seam, removing the centre back seam and giving your skirt a beautifully clean finish.

This kit is not only about creating a special skirt, but also about building lasting skills you will carry with you into future projects. From lining to zip placement to the art of check matching and sewing a blind hem on a sewing machine, it is a true skill-builder as well as a timeless wardrobe piece.

There is enough fabric in this kit to add 15-20cm to the skirt length. Becca’s navy skirt was lengthened by 5cm.

Please note if you would like to order other items with this kit, please place a separate order as we're unable to hold other items until we ship the kits in January. Fabric

This kit is available in our Navy Blue Plaid British Wool.

This beautifully woven pure wool has a sophisticated check design, perfect for creating a classic skirt with a heritage feel. It is an elegant navy blue which features a subtle grid of soft pink, rust and pale blue checks, giving it a refined and understated appearance.

Woven in Britain from 100% pure wool, this fabric has a beautifully soft feel with a medium-weight drape. Wool’s natural insulating and breathable qualities make it warm yet comfortable to wear across seasons. It responds well to pressing and tailoring, making it a delight to sew.

The lining fabric compliments the outer wool, picking out a colour in the design and adding interest to the inside of your skirt. The rose fabric is a viscose/acetate blend, with a silky touch which makes it ideal for lining.
