The Myosotis Dress is a breezy and feminine dress with a slightly oversized fit. It's gently fitted on the bust, with both bust and waist darts and has a nice amount of ease around the waist, making it super comfy to wear.

The dress has shirt details with its stand collar and button band, but with a flattering v-neckline. We've included self-cover buttons with this kit for an extra special touch, which allows you to highlight your favourite colours in the fabric. The skirt is cut so the waistline sits slightly higher than the natural waist and hits above the knee. There's options for a simple gathered skirt, or add more movement by including a ruffle tier at the hem.

The set in sleeves are neatly fitted at the shoulder and have options which you can personalise to your style. Choose a straight short sleeve or go for a little drama with a gathered ruffle on the bottom. In her top tips video, Lauren also demonstrates how to lengthen the sleeve and sew an elastic gathered hem (an additional feature not included in the pattern), making the dress even more versatile for colder weather.

What makes this kit extra special is the limited edition Vintage Bauhaus viscose crepe fabrics which have been designed by Lauren Guthrie in collaboration with Rachel Parker. The Navy Segments and Teal Jigsaw fabrics feature bold shapes on a wearable scale which are perfectly shown off on the Myosotis.

This kit includes enough fabric to make any combination of sleeve or skirt in the modelled photos.

Fabric

Our exclusive Bauhaus Teal Jigsaw and Navy Segments viscoses were created by Lauren in collaboration with surface pattern designer Rachel Parker and are a part of the first instalment of our brand new and exclusive Vintage Bauhaus Fabric collection!

These prints showcase striking patterns inspired by the clean lines and distinct shapes of Bauhaus art. Bold geometric silhouettes combined with intricate elements in a gorgeous colour palette allows you to make a gorgeous statement piece that pays homage to this design aesthetic in a modern way.

The design is printed onto a subtly textured 100% viscose crepe. It has a super soft and silky handle and ever so slightly textured surface. This gives the fabric a gentle and luxurious sheen that catches the light, bringing the print to life. At 108gsm, its weight works beautifully with the gathers on the dress.

Sizing

This pattern is available in two size ranges: sizes 34-48 (approx. UK 4-18, B Cup) and sizes 46-60 (UK 16-30, D Cup). Bust 31 ⅞" - 57 ⅞”, waist 23 ⅝” - 49 ⅝” & hips 33 ⅞" - 60

Alongside the purchase of this kit you will receive access to Lauren’s exclusive YouTube videos to be used alongside the pattern instructions.

She shares her hints and tips on getting a really lovely finish on your garment including how to sew the collar and button placket, how to French seam the bodice, how to lengthen the sleeve and add a gathered cuff, how to sew the ruffle layers, how to make covered buttons and much more!

Also included in this kit is an additional video with lots of advice on working with the Bauhaus Crepe Fabric, from cutting and sewing it, to hemming and caring for your finished garment. These tips will really increase your knowledge and confidence of sewing with viscose fabric in general when you come to work with this type of fabric in future projects.

The two videos have over 52 minutes of footage, sectioned out with time stamps/chapters for easy reference and navigation

The links to the videos will be contained in your order confirmation email along with the pdf files, please file this safely for future reference.

Deer and Doe rate the difficulty level of this pattern as suitable for an intermediate dressmaker.

Techniques include sewing darts, button plackets, collar stands and gathers. The lightweight fabric adds an extra technical element to this make, though lots of advice on working with this fabric is included in Lauren's additional video.

Recommended tools and equipment

To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools.

We also recommend ensuring that you have sharp and/or fine pins, like the ones linked below as this type of fabric can snag easily with blunt pins and needles.

If you would like a printed copy of the instructions sent out with your kit, in addition to the PDF copy that you will receive, please see the related products below and add it to your cart as a separate product.
