The Mitchell Trousers are an elegant and comfortable trouser with some extra special details. They're a modern interpretation of the classic pleated trouser, but include some unique elements which set them apart. Sew them up with a full length wide leg or choose a tapered leg which finishes at the ankle.
The deep front pleats enclose the angled pockets, which are faced with the exterior fabric, meaning there's no risk of your lining peeking out. The pocket love continues on the back of the trouser, where sleek welt pockets can be sewn. Choose whether to sew one, both or no welt pockets depending on the look you want (and the sewing time you have available!).
Adjustable waist straps can be added for extra detail, with the straps cleverly sewn into the front pleats and back darts. The straps are fastened with metal D rings, giving a really professional finish.
The trousers close with a fly front zip and have a comfy hidden waistband facing for a sleek silhouette. The top of the fly is secured with a hook and bar as well as an internal button.
What sets this kit apart is the amazing fabric we've sourced. This pure wool fabric is ex-designer and has a really beautiful hand. We've also included an ex-designer pocket lining fabric and Lauren shows you how to use the leftovers from this to create neat Hong Kong bound seams for a super professional finish you'll be really proud of!
All kits include enough fabric to make either view of the trouser.
This kit is available in three different coloured wool fabrics: deep green, maroon and denim.
This gorgeous fabric is 100% wool and is ex-designer deadstock. It is really high quality, feels super soft and is a dream to sew and press. The fabric is on the lighter side of medium weight and has a soft drape that works really compliments the shape of the Mitchells.
The sumptuous deep green has a more solid colouring, while the maroon and denim have a subtle textured appearance. These two also have a darker reverse side, which you could use as the outer if you prefer a more subtle colour.
For the pocket lining we've sourced some lovely cotton poplin, which is also ex-designer. This fabric is 97% cotton and 3% elastane, giving it a slight stretch. Deep green and maroon kits will receive black lining with dainty red flowers fabric and denim kits will receive navy with dainty green flowers lining fabric.
