There’s something lovely about sewing a jacket you’ll wear season after season, and my Caiplie Jacket is just that! I love the relaxed shape, the textured Cairn Circles jacquard fabric and the clever curved seams with built-in pockets.
I developed the Caiplie Jacket alongside our exclusive Cairn Circles cotton jacquard, and I love how subtle the woven texture gives the black fabric so much depth, while the relaxed shape and clever pocket details make it a really practical piece to wear day after day.

Lauren's Notes:
• Fabric choice: Cairn Circles was developed specifically with Caiplie in mind. Its substantial weight and structure help the jacket hold its relaxed shape, while the woven circular motifs complement the curved seams beautifully. Midnight black is a particularly versatile option if you want a jacket that will work with lots of different outfits, while still having something special about it.
• Styling tip: I’d wear this with jeans, a simple white T-shirt and trainers for an easy everyday outfit, or layer it over a cosy jumper when the weather turns colder. The burgundy makes a lovely statement without being difficult to style, and the textured fabric adds interest even when the rest of your outfit is kept simple.
• Difficulty level: This is a rewarding project if you're ready to take on a jacket with several construction stages. The fully illustrated pattern instructions and my top tips video provide plenty of support along the way. The internal welt pocket is optional, making it easy to decide whether you'd like to keep the project simpler or try a new technique.

The fabric quantity included is suitable for making the Caiplie Jacket in sizes 4-20, based on the pattern's recommended fabric requirements and including 6% shrinkage. If you're making a different size, check the pattern instructions in the gallery and adjust the quantity before adding to your basket. You will receive all sizes on the A0 print out of the pattern.
