The Agnes Pyjama Set is a relaxed fit loungewear set featuring a shirt with a 'grown-on' dolman sleeve, patch pockets and flat convertible/camp style collar along with a simple elasticated waist trouser that sits on the high on the natural waistline and can be made into shorts.
The pyjamas are pretty simple and fast to sew as each trouser leg has no side seam and is cut out as one piece. The shirt is also fairly simple as the sleeve and bodice is just a front and back piece, so there is no sleeve to insert. The real joy in this make comes from adding extra elements and challenges using the gorgeous checked double gauze fabric included in this kit.
Opt for large or small scale checks, or mix and match between the two. The top tips video that comes with this kit will show you how to add a contrast cuff/facing to the hem of the trousers and the shirt, to add another design detail that doesn't come as standard with the pattern. It also explains how to add in a waistband drawstring giving a lovely additional detail to the trousers.
If you have ever wanted to master check matching this kit is a great introduction as the construction itself is straight forward, it will give you the head space you need to tackle those checks! Not sure you are ready for all of that yet? Don't worry, just use the smaller scale check, which is small enough not to need pattern matched and you will still end up with a gorgeous PJ set!
We have chosen four stunning colours of this 100% cotton double gauze gingham fabric : red, ochre, navy and pale green.
This fabric is double sided, with one side featuring large checks and the other smaller scale checks in a classic gingham style. It is two fine layers of loose weave fabric, invisible stitched together, so the fabric feels soft and light weight. With the double layer of fabric it traps air and still feels comforting and cosy to wear.
