The Strata Top is simplicity itself, with just a few pattern pieces, its clean lines mean it really lets the fabric do the talking. Strata features a scooped neckline, grown on sleeves and a gently swooping silhouette, which you’ll be wanting to make again and again.
This top is both easy to wear and, with its uncomplicated shape, easy to fit. The hem is cut to curve from front to back, giving elegance to this everyday staple. To add extra interest here Lauren demonstrates in her top tips video how to draft and sew a facing for the hem - a technique you can apply to many other projects.
She also shows you how to adjust the front length and bring the neckline in, if you’d prefer more coverage in these areas (as we did on the white and navy samples). And we’ve included a few different seam finishing options too, so you can play around with some new techniques.
We’re totally in love with the beautiful fabrics in these kits, which really make this everyday top shine.

For this kit we’ve chosen three fabrics on two different base cloths.
The first is a double gauze which has a rainbow of embroidered stripe threads running through it. Double gauze is made of two fine layers of fabric invisibly stitched together. This fabric is super soft and feels lovely next to the skin. It is available in navy and white and is 100% cotton.
The second base is a unique deadstock fabric, which has a subtle flower design and open weave stripes woven into it. This fabric is a blend of 60% cotton and 40% viscose, which means the fabric is breathable with a great drape. It is available in sky blue.
