The Cosy Adventures Men’s Pyjama Bottoms Kit features the popular Hudson Pants pattern by True Bias. This pattern is a relaxed, modern take on classic lounge trousers and a firm favourite for comfortable loungewear.

They’re designed for everyday comfort with a slightly dropped crotch, gently tapered leg, practical front pockets, and an elasticated waistband. The waistband is topstitched, meaning the elastic will never get twisted, and we’ve included coordinating drawstring for a professional finish.

In her top tips video Lauren demonstrates how to finish the drawstring with a thread toggle, for a special handmade touch. She also shows you how to adjust the pattern for a wider leg if you'd prefer a more traditional pyjama trouser look.

Paired with our new Guthrie & Ghani exclusive Cosy Adventures brushed-back French terry, this kit is perfect for sewing soft, cosy pyjama bottoms to wear all winter long. The fabric is a luxurious blend of bamboo, organic cotton and spandex, brushed on the reverse for warmth and softness, with a smooth front. With just the right amount of stretch for relaxing, lounging or sleeping, it’s easy to sew and ideal for both confident beginners and experienced makers.

The Hudson Pant makes a brilliant standalone project, but it also pairs perfectly with our Jeanne Pyjama Supplies Kit if you’d like to create a matching set for the whole family, or maybe one for a significant other! It would also look great with a coordinating t-shirt in one of our plain cotton jerseys - maybe with a cute Cosy Adventures pocket!

Fabric

Printed exclusively for Guthrie & Ghani, the Cosy Adventures design is available in deep red, forest green and classic navy colourways. Each print features eleven native British animals, from the barn owl and red deer to the Welsh mountain pony and Irish black honey bee, all staying cosy dressed in adorable winter accessories.

Made from a premium blend of 66% bamboo, 28% organic cotton and 6% spandex, this brushed-back French terry has a smooth, soft front and a fleecy reverse. It's warm, stretchy and super cosy - perfect for pjs and loungewear! The fabric is easy to sew and doesn’t require pattern matching, making for a speedy pre-Christmas make.

Each kit includes coordinating 2 x 2 ribbing, for the pocket facing and cuffs, which gives a really professional finish. It is 95% cotton, 5% elastane and is OEKO Tex certified.

Lauren's top tips videos

In her accompanying top tips video, Lauren walks you through the key stages of sewing your Cosy Adventures Hudson Pants. They’re an enjoyable project that’s perfect if you’re new to sewing with stretch fabrics or want to refine your loungewear-making skills.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Work confidently with knit fabrics, with beginner-friendly tips on cutting and handling them
  • Sew stretch fabrics on a regular sewing machine using Maraflex thread for stretchy seams, without the need for an overlocker
  • Topstitch elastic neatly, ensuring a smooth waistband that looks professionally finished
  • Add a neat touch to your drawstring with a thread toggle - a special G&G extra
  • Adapt the pattern to widen the legs and omit the cuffs for a more traditional pyjama fit — another G&G adjustment.
  • Get beautifully matched seams, with Lauren’s top tips

Once you’re finished, you’ll have a pair of cosy pyjama bottoms that are super soft, practical and handmade with love.

The video has over 33 minutes of footage, sectioned out with time stamps/chapters for easy reference and navigation.

The link to the video will be contained in your order confirmation email along with the pdf files, please file this safely for future reference.

True Bias rate the difficulty level for this pattern as Advanced Beginner.

Techniques include working with knit fabrics, sewing pockets, inserting elastic and sewing buttonholes.

Recommended tools and equipment

To complete this project successfully you'll need a regular sewing machine along with Lauren's essential recommended sewing tools. An overlocker can be used for a lot of the construction, but is not essential.

You can see some of the tools most used by Lauren in her top tips video in the Related Products section above.

If you would like a printed copy of the instructions sent out with your kit, in addition to the PDF copy that you will receive, please see the related products below and add it to your cart as a separate product.
