I loved the theme of this weeks sewing bee! It was all focused on fabrics that are made in Britain and Ireland. We have got such a rich history of textile manufacturing and I was so pleased to see this celebrated on the show. I'm sure a lot of people don't realise that there are still fabric made here in the UK and I'm really proud to say that we stock some of them in the shop!
One of our lovely suppliers knits, dyes and prints lovely viscose and modal jersey here in the UK, Leicester to be precise! They are amazing quality and wash and wear so well!
I'm sure many of you will have heard and seen my chat about this beautiful fabrics before on the blog and and on Youtube. British Millerain have been manufacturing innovative textiles in the UK for over 100 years and we stock one of their ranges of showerproof waxed cotton. It's great for jackets and rain coats as well as bags.
Two of the challenges this week were around making outerwear. The first challenge saw the contestants use Irish linen to make a soft tailored mans blazer and the show stopper challenge, a ladies woollen coat.
If you are feeling inspired to give sewing outerwear a go there are now so many lovely options out there with lots of inspiration and support online to help you along on the way.
