The Merchant & Mills Paynter PDF sewing pattern lets you make your own classic Field Jacket, inspired by the practical, hard-wearing jackets made by Paynter Jacket Co. Designed as a challenging and rewarding project for experienced sewists, The Paynter combines classic utility styling with considered construction details and plenty of opportunities to develop your sewing skills.

This advanced sewing pattern is available in sizes XS–XXL and is designed for light to medium-weight woven fabrics up to 8oz, including cotton twill, denim, wool and dry oilskin. The jacket features a practical collection of pockets, a front placket and carefully considered construction details that give it an authentic field jacket feel.

You can view the instruction booklet on your device at home, print it out at home, or add the 'printed instructions' product to your order and we will print it for you. Please note we will print the instructions in black & white.

Fabric

We recommend light to medium weight wovens up to 8oz, cotton twills, denim, wool and dry oilskin. There are 9 layers to sew through during the pocket construction, so check the fabric you choose can be accommodated by your sewing machine.
