Step Into a Greek Summer

For our latest summer window, Jo was inspired by everything we love about the Greek islands.

One of my favourite things about a new collection is seeing Jo bring it to life in our shop window. She always manages to take the story behind the fabrics and turn it into something that makes you want to stop and have a closer look.

For our latest summer window, Jo was inspired by everything we love about the Greek islands. Think whitewashed houses with bright blue shutters, little tavernas overlooking the sea, fishing boats gently bobbing in the harbour and vibrant bougainvillea climbing over every doorway.

The result is a window that feels like a little slice of a Greek summer right here in Moseley.

Looking through the windows...

The blue window frames are inspired by the colourful windows and doors you'll find throughout the Greek islands. If you look through them, you'll discover my latest additions to our Greek Goddess fabric collection, all made up into garments that really capture the relaxed feel of summer dressing, including my new Thora Top & Dress.

Running across the bay window is a garland of little fishing boats, imagine them gently bobbing along the shoreline, while trails of bougainvillea weave their way through the whole scene, adding pops of vibrant pink.

Look a little closer and you'll also spot some familiar details hidden amongst the garments. Jo has included several of the original Greek mythology posters that inspired the Goddess Collection, helping to tell the story behind these exclusive g&g fabrics.

The Thora Top in Bougainvillea Blooms

The first garment you'll spot is the Thora Top, made in our Bougainvillea Blooms fabric.

The simplicity of the Thora pattern lets the fabric take centre stage. The clean lines show off the placement of the print beautifully, while the soft viscose linen gives it an easy drape that's perfect for warm summer days.

It's exactly the sort of top that pairs effortlessly with your favourite trousers or shorts and quickly becomes one of those handmade pieces you reach for again and again.

The Thora Dress in Aegean Waves and Thora's Charms

Alongside the top, we've also made up the Thora Dress in two of the newest exclusive designs from the collection, Aegean Waves and Thora's Charms.

Although it's the same pattern, the different prints completely change the feel of the dress. Aegean Waves has a lovely flowing movement that echoes the sea surrounding the Greek islands, while Thora's Charms brings together the symbolic motifs that run throughout the collection.

It's always lovely to see how choosing a different fabric can completely transform the same sewing pattern.

The Gilbert Shirt in Bougainvillea Blooms

We've also included the Gilbert Shirt made in Bougainvillea Blooms.

This relaxed shirt is another great example of letting the fabric shine. The crisp collar and classic shirt details balance beautifully with the softer floral print, making it an easy piece to wear open over a vest, buttoned up with trousers or even tied over a summer dress.

It's available as a complete kit, making it easy to recreate exactly this look.

Styled with Wardrobe Staples

To complete the outfits, we've paired the garments with some classic handmade wardrobe staples, including the Closet Core Sepia Pants and the Named Verso Trousers.

They're a lovely reminder that statement fabrics don't need complicated styling. A well fitting pair of handmade trousers lets these beautiful prints become the focus, while creating outfits you'll wear all summer long.

Come and See It for Yourself

I always hope our windows do more than simply showcase new fabrics. They're there to help you imagine what those fabrics could become, whether you're inspired by the exact garments we've made or you're already thinking about a favourite pattern waiting in your stash.

If you're visiting us in Moseley over the next few weeks, do stop and have a look. I hope this little glimpse of a Greek summer leaves you feeling inspired for your next sewing project.
