The g&g Festive Window Display 2025 - Laurens Round Up

Join Lauren as she shares with you this years beautiful festive window display in the shop, filled with lots of dressmaking project inspiration for the festive season.

I’m so excited to share our gorgeous new festive window display with you! This is always one of my favourite times of year when the shop is transformed and brings a little Christmas sparkle to the beautiful big bay window we have here in the shop in Moseley.

This year’s theme is a classic and sophisticated take on festive glamour — with deep navy tones, shimmery sequins, and luxurious stretch velvet taking centre stage. Jo always designs such stunning displays and thinks of lovely details and touches to make it extra special and inspiring.

Whether you’re local and can stop by to see it in person, or you’re browsing from further afield, I hope this year’s display brings you a touch of festive magic and plenty of ideas for your next make!

You can hear me chat about it and see the garments close up in my latest Youtube video.

The details

With subtle gold touches, this window really sparkles bright in the sunlight and in the evenings. Jo has decorated the tree with decedent velvet bows and gold buttons and scissors decorations.

The twinkly sequin garlands hanging from the ceiling create lots of depth and fill the large space of the window making it feel super festive and the neatly wrapped presents add a lovely touch! Don't forget to check out our gift guide if you are hoping to get something sewing related under the tree this year!

The Garments

The theme of these lovely outfits is comfy luxury. Made with stretch, fabrics they can be dressed up or down and make great inspiration for festive season makes!

Tilly and The Buttons Pearl Cardigan and Named Olo pants

The Tilly And The Buttons Pearl Cardigan is a classic V neck wrap cardigan with a cropped waist which fastens at the side with an adjustable tie. With dropped shoulders, a relaxed fit across the bust and a deep hem band it can easily be adjusted for comfort.

The statement balloon sleeves and cosy cuffs work really nicely in this slinky stretch velour fabric in a rich navy colourway. Paired with the Named patterns Olo pants, which are a simple elasticated waist with wide legs, this gorgeous combo can look like a jumpsuit without the faff when you need to nip to the ladies!

The rich jewel tones of the stretch velour range of fabrics is a lovely selection. Opt for darker classic colours or something a bit brighter and fun!

Megan Nielsen Jarrah Jumper

We LOVE the Jarrah jumper here at g&g and how different does this version look in the magical sequin stretch velour fabric!

Paired with navy ribbing for the neckband and cuffs and with the fancy side tie at the bottom hem, this top could easily be dressed up on down depending on your festive occasion!

Named Patterns Kajo Top

The Kajo is one of the newer patterns from Named and has been super popular since its release. We've seen lots of different versions made up in a variety of fabrics and they all look gorgeous!

The design is a loose-fitting sweater that has those classic batwing style sleeves giving fullness from the side seam to the sleeve hem. It has a wrap style at the front and back that inserts into a curved and more fitted waist band. The back neckline also has a horizontal strap which adds a nice touch. Also made in the Navy stretch velour, it drapes beautifully into this fuller style.

I hope you have enjoyed having a view into our latest inspiring window display and have lots of new ideas on your to sew list.
