Full of soft pastel hues and dreamy fabric and pattern combinations!
As the days get longer and we look to welcome the lovely sunshine through the big bay window here at the g&g shop, I'm delighted to share with you our new spring window display.
Jo always puts so much planning and thought into our window displays and along with the help from the rest of the team she has really brightened up the shop with a super 'dreamy' display to get you inspired from Spring projects.
We know so many of our lovely customers are too far away to visit the shop in person so in this post and video I wanted to give you a tour around! Read on for links to the patterns and fabrics featured or click on video image below for a virtual tour.
The Celeste top is a lovely simple top option that has really pretty details, while still showcasing an extra special fabric. We used the Starry Night Cotton Double Guaze fabric for this version but this pattern would be suitable for lots of different fabric types from detailed embroidered fabrics to floaty viscose linens with a large scale print.
Paired with the Luna pants these are so comfortable and nice and simple to make too. We don't have exactly the same fabric anymore but I've linked a similar alternative below!
This gorgeous pairing is simple oh so stylish! The Ashton top is great for beginners, it's what our students make in the Complete Beginners 6 week workshop, as it's really versatile and comes with a sleeve expansion pack to make many varieties of the pattern.
For this version we choose a cotton linen blend and it has just the right amount of structure to hold the a-line shape. It looks great paired with the Closet Core Jenny trousers made in our new baby pink chunky cord. These really are a dream with on trend wide legs and large top stitched pockets.
The Karine Cardigan featured in our recent Sewing Society kit and is made in super soft viscose blend ribbed fabric. Worn over the Sew Liberated Bedrock Tee in a classic linen jersey, matched with the True Bias Emerson trousers in our turquoise chunky cord is a complete dream handmade outfit from head to toe! Accessorised perfectly with our Young Power Sewing Society Kit you really would feel on cloud 9 wearing this!
This Tilly and the Buttons Stevie Top is almost unrecognisable but is such a good example of how some simple, easy to achieve changes to a pattern, combined with a gorgeous fabric can make a really amazing garment!
Jo took the seam out between the back yoke and bodice and instead made a centre back seam with a key hole opening at the top. Instead of a facing she used bias binding made from a coordinating cotton double gauze. She used the circular crochet shape of the fabric as the bottom hem and added a cuff to the sleeve hem as well.
This stunning top is paired with the Avid Seamstress City Trousers made in a stretch needlecord and the cute and practical Young Power Bag.
I love all the little accents and details added to the display! The floating clouds fill up the high ceiling of the bay window and we have sewing themed words in them as well.
Our large haberdashery props always bring everything together and Jo has accessorised it with colourful fabric baskets and notions.
I hope you've enjoyed having a look around!
