I’m so excited to share our November new fabrics round-up with you! This month’s collection is full of rich colours, cosy textures and beautiful dressmaking fabrics that are perfect for autumn and early winter sewing. If you’re looking for fresh sewing inspiration, softer layers, or fabrics with gorgeous drape, there’s lots to discover.

Whether you’re planning your next handmade outfit, topping up your stash, or searching for the perfect fabric for jumpers, dresses or shirts, this month’s selection has something for every dressmaker.

Join me for a closer look at all the new fabrics for November in this blog post and over on the Guthrie & Ghani YouTube channel, where I show each fabric up close so you can see the true colour, drape and movement.

What I'm wearing

This everyday jumper version of the Jalie Jeanne Top from our latest kit has been on constant rotation for me. I shortened it to have more or a cropped style, perfect for wearing with jeans for a comfy everyday look thats a bit festive!

The Ultimate Cosy Layering Fabrics

When the days get shorter and the air turns crisp, layering becomes our secret weapon. These luxury dressmaking fabrics are 100% merino wool, double-knit construction and are soft to the touch on both sides, stretchy and designed to keep you warm.

They’re ideal for base layers, cosy tops, fitted dresses or a winter version of your everyday favourite.

Classic Jerseys for fun layers

Next up: versatile jersey dressmaking fabrics that feel like your casual T-shirt favourites but behave beautifully in cooler months.

These “T-shirt weight” jerseys are great for layering under jackets, over long sleeves or for relaxed everyday pieces. The prints and textures bring personality, micro-leopard, polka-dot, subtle patterns, making them fun for tops, vests or casual dresses while still being comfortable and easy to work with.

Best for fitted layers

If you’re after something a little more structured (but still cosy), check out the ribbed cotton jerseys with elastane. These fabrics are perfect for fitted garments: turtle-necks, slim polos or layering pieces under jumpers or coats. Their stretch gives shape while staying comfortable, and the fabrics’ tones and prints mean you don’t need to compromise on style or artisan-made appeal.

Mid-weight French Terry Fabrics

Here’s the sweet spot between casual and elevated: mid-weight French terry fabrics. Ideal for comfy tops, relaxed jackets or heavier layering pieces, these fabrics have enough substance for cooler weather but retain softness and drape.

They’re perfect when you want something more substantial than a jersey, but still wearable and comfortable for everyday handmade pieces.

Double Sided Quilted Layers

For outer-layer makes or garments with a little more structure, our quilted fabrics deliver. With a reversible feel and neat vertical stitching, these quilted dressmaking fabrics are perfect for items where you’ll showcase the texture, think contrast pockets, collar details or comfy statement jackets.

They strike that balance between cosy and crafted, and work beautifully for outerwear you’ll reach for throughout the season.

Woven Prints with personality

It’s not all about ultra-warm layers, we’ve included party ready and super tactile woven fabrics too: viscose crepes, light cotton twills, brushed surfaces.

These fabrics have fabulous drape, movement and lively prints, making them ideal for dresses, skirts or stylish separates that carry you into the party season. Swap out your plain winter piece for something with a little print or flow and let your handmade wardrobe shine.

Re-stocked winter classics

Finally, if you’re looking for classic wardrobe foundations, this section is for you. We’ve restocked timeless plains: boiled wool for coats and jackets, structured cotton corduroy for trousers, dungarees or smart skirts.

These classic dressmaking fabrics aren’t just seasonal, they’ll remain wardrobe staples for years to come. Pick your hue, pick your piece, make something you’ll love forever.

I hope you have found this lovely selection of fabrics inspiring and are all set and ready for some cosy sewing for the cooler months!
