The next blue themed make that I wanted to share this week as part of my #sewbluejanuary campaign to get you guys to sew through this month, uses another one of our Sale Exclusive fabrics. Cotton + Steel fabrics are such a treat to work with and this lovely navy cotton lawn with multicoloured mini splatters is no different.
I’ve made it up in the Pauline Alice Reina Blouse, which has a really pretty feminie style with a front and back yoke with gathers in the main bodice and dainty button loops and buttons down the centre front.
To make the button loops I used a loop turner, which is great for getting a really narrow tube of fabric. I’ve made a little video to show you the blouse, how to use the loop turner and how to make covered buttons using your own fabric. I think its always easier to see these things happening rather than just pictures.
It’s a very loose style and the V-neck shape of the neckline is a tad to low for me so I’ve worn it with a vest top underneath.
I think the little stand collar makes is really flattering around the collar bones.
I think it also looks nice pinched in at the waist to give a different silhouette, which I personally prefer.
This beautiful fabric would also be great for more crisper fitted styles of shirt like the Oakridge, the Granville, the bruyere, and the archer shirt.
If you’ve been sewing or making anything to help get you through January then remember to share your makes with my on Instagram using the #sewbluejanuary, or post them on the Facebook page.
Happy blue sewing!
