New Fabric Arrivals Round Up - February 2024

As we get one more month closer to Spring, I've got a wonderfully vibrant and colourful selection of fabrics to share with you in this months round up of new dressmaking fabric arrivals to the g&g shop!

From crisp woven cottons to stretchy jersey and viscose prints full of drape and swish, there is lots of inspiration for your next dressmaking project!

Check out my Youtube video below to see all the fabrics up close. All the fabric I mention are linked in this blog post, or to browse the very latest new fabric arrivals - visit the just arrived section of the online shop in this link.

In this months video I am wearing my new Closet Core Jenna Shirt made using our White Geo Diamond Cotton Cheesecloth fabric - both linked below

Crisp Woven Cotton Fabric

From Light weight Tana Lawns to a fun heavier weight shirting and a stretch cotton perfect for summer trousers or more structured skirts and dresses - if sewing with cotton is top of your list there are lots of lovely options to choose from!

Cotton Jersey Fabrics

This super colourful selection of cotton jerseys are all lighter, t-shirt weight and much more stable and easier to work with than the viscose jersey I share further down the page.

Fun and Novelty Jersey Fabrics

These fabrics are a mix of classic 't-shirt' weight fabric and slightly heavier brushed loopback/French Terrys. All nice and easy to work with as well as comfy to wear.

Viscose Jersey Fabric

If drape, movement and swish is top of your list in a jersey garment this this selection of viscose jersey fabrics is perfect! They are all light weight and super stretchy making them comfy to wear.

Woven Viscose Print Fabric

If you still want that amazing drape and movement but without the stretch I've got a gorgeous new selection of prints on a woven viscose base cloth - great for tops, blouses, dresses and skirts - especially those with details like gathers!

Bamboo Poplin Fabric

This type of fabric combination might be new to you, but if you are familiar with viscose and rayon fabric this woven bamboo like this one is very similar in how it drapes and moves. The poplin indicates that its a slightly heavier/thicker fabric but that doesn't detract from how fluid it is and how much drape it has, making it super versatile for everything from tops and dresses to jumpsuits and trousers.
