I'm delighted to welcome a gorgeous, fresh and bright Springtime window display and in this blog post and video tour I'll be sharing all the details of the inspiring garments and dressmaking projects we have featured.
Jo designs such amazing and creative window displays to fill the big bay window in our shop here in Moseley for all our lovely customers who can visit the shop. For those of you who are a bit too far away to come and visit us in person I hope this gives you a little insight into how the shop is looking and feeling at the moment!

The Papercut Patterns Aura Dress And Skirt Sewing Pattern is a statement piece you can wear all year round. This wrap style dress can be worn elegantly or casually featuring its captivating balloon sleeves. Even paired with a turtleneck in the cooler seasons. Wear the wrap skirt variation with some sneakers, a heel or a cute boot any day of the year. Featuring a waist tie with inspiration drawn from the Sierra Jumpsuit.
We've paired this beautiful dress with our cotton dobby dash stripe cotton fabric which also comes in a nice coral shade. I love the cute bow!
The Papercut Patterns Coppelia Cardi Sewing Pattern is a classic ballet style wrap cardi, featuring a raglan sleeve, and a fully adjustable tie through waist. With two variations available, you can make it full length with the wrap attached at the side seam and a band at the bottom, or cropped with a long waist tie to wrap around and tie in a bow.
This cosy version is made using our Mint Textured Arrow Stripe Viscose fabric which feels so soft and snuggly, perfect for layering during the cooler days!
Effortlessly stylish, the City Trousers reimagine the contemporary, cigarette fit with a minimalist chic flair. A narrow waistband with an invisible zip at the back creates the ultimate body-slimming silhouette. With easy to insert side pockets and optional side slits at the hem, this astoundingly versatile pattern is fit for any level of sewing experience.
This sample was made in some stretch needlecord from our fabric sample sale event. It would look lovely in one of our matter stretch cotton fabrics for a great all rounder trouser that will be easy to mix and match with your handmade tops and blouses.
The Flints are a lovely, nice and simple classic wide leg trouser with a unique crossover closure at the side seam. They are designed to sit on the natural waist and feature a hidden closure at the left pocket , release tucks at the front, darts at the back, slash pockets, two waistband options and two lengths.
This bamboo Blended fabric is a perfect pairing as its full of drape, which will make this wider leg style move around really nicely. They fabric doesn't crease either as its mixed with recycled polyester.
With a timeless aesthetic The Assembly Line Cap Sleeve Shirt is easy to style and wear. It has a straight, wide shape and features cap sleeves with a fold and a standing straight collar.
The fuller style looks great made up in our Viscose Yarn dyed stripe fabric and with so many lovely colours to choose from you could easily have this lovely blouse in all the shades!
The Sienna is a chic utility jacket inspired by vintage French workwear. Designed for hard-wearing use by makers and artists, it functions as both stylish outerwear and a highly practical layer for use inside the studio.
With a slightly dropped shoulder, Sienna features a crisp notched collar which can be worn buttoned at the neck with an optional snap button. It is unlined and finished with durable seams. Our sample is View C, which is a short chore jacket with button closure, optional sleeve pockets and a back button placket. We paired this with one of the fabrics from our sample sale event, but it would also work really well with our core range of cotton twill fabric linked below.
We've styled this jacket with the wardrobe staple - the True Bias Zoey Tank Top - made using our Meet Milk Ribbed Tencel Jersey. It's a must have for a handmade wardrobe as it goes with everything and is the perfect layer for all year round wear!
To complete this final outfit we have the Anna Allen Philippa Pants - another great one for pairing with cute handmade tops and blouses, especially when made in the neutral colours we have of the lovely Sanded Cotton Twill.
The pattern itself is only available as a PDF directly from the Anna Allen website and can be found in this link. You can then make use of our A0 pattern printing service to have it printed out and follow along with my top tips video for a great finish and lots of extra hints and tips!
What always brings the window displays together in such a special way are all the details and props that Jo brings together. This time we have vibrant paper lavender stems and lots of delicate paper garlands hanging from the gorgeous high ceiling of the bay window - they really fill the space so well.
Accented with out rustic ladder, draped with pretty fabrics and our fun over sized scissors and tape measure to help passers by remember we are all about sewing, this display has really brightened up the shop ready for those longer, sunnier spring days ahead!
