As the weeks roll on on our huge renovation project, things are continuing to progress *fairly* well.
Our soon to be creative studio/workroom on the first floor has really been stripped back now and tidied up. We are looking forward to opening up the ceiling too so it will be a vast apex roof on the inside. I think this will really set off the a-frame arches as well!
We also opened up the area under the stairs. There was a few breeze block walls under there that were used to create seperate toilets but we wanted to open it all up to make the space more functional.
This is it all opened up now. Its great...looks much bigger that it did before!
We rescued this little cutie who had fallen in a hole we had dug for foundations in the garden too...poor little thing! He was seemed so scared!
We also came in the other day to find part of the ceiling had fallen through. It was on the way out anyway to be honest so was only really a matter of time.
We've kept a bit of the coving though so when the time comes we can try to match it. A room as grand as this would look wrong without lovely coving I think.
The other major step forward we have made is getting this roof down from one of the extensions at the back. There has been a leak in the roof for goodness knows how long and a whole section of the beams had rotten. Ivy had also grown all on the inside of the apex Jumangi style at the far end (which you can't really see here) so its a relief to finally have the roof gone really before it caused any problems.
There is so much light flooding in now it's amazing! This is the area that will be part our house and part garden courtyard.
And finally...the scaffolding started going up! I never thought I could be so happy and excited about scaffolding....but I am!
Stay tuned for another renovation update next week!
