Renovations - Part Eleven

It's been another busy week on site at 169. Lots more things have been happening but more on the organisational side........insulation and plaster boards have been ordered, underfloor heating and concrete has been quoted and ordered and decisions about lighting are being made.

The painting of the Tudor paneling at the front has slowed down a bit because the roofers were back to finish the other side of the roof and a whole load of dust and rubble fell down onto the scaffolding so it was just too messy to paint for a few days. We are on the final stages of painitng now though and then then front and left side scaffolding can come down.

So...this is the roof before..... Initially we thought we could patch up the slipped and crumbling tiles but the whole thing was stripped again, new felt put down, new lathes and then all the tiles re-layed. The valley in at the join between the two roof sections was a bit rubbish too and not letting the water fall and drain correctly so its reassuring to know that thats all been fixed properly now.

Here's the roof now looking all smart......

And she's now got her ridge tiles back on and the little crown bits at the top too!

The inside is more or less looking the same apart from all the new wiring and electrics that are getting fitted. The team are coming next week to start boarding the inside so by this time next week the upstairs hall should start to look a lot different!

Out the back....our new house is really taking shape! The view below taken from where our kitchen will eventually be and the gap in the wall on in the left of the photo is where the front door will be.

The view below is of the same wall as above but now the steels have been put in. We are having high narrow thin windows at the side of the house so that light can get in and we can see the trees and sky but not next doors garden.

And the view below here is of what will be the kitchen window that looks back towards the original building.

Over the next few weeks a lot will be happening all at once. The Tudor paneling needs to be finished....front and back, the insulation and plaster boards will all be getting fitted, the underfloor heating and top scread will be layed on the floor, the electrics finished off and lighting installed, the windows will start to get fitted....its all really overwhelming at times but its all positive!
