So here is a round up of all the lovely kits we have brought you in 2022!

February

This month was all about comfy stretch fabric and featured the Helens Closet Avery leggings and the Sew Liberated Stasia Dress.

The Avery leggings are a classic basic and each kit included enough supplies to make two pairs of leggings. We sourced the most amazing modal fabric, knitted and dyed here in the UK just for us, with the right amount of stretch and density for the ultimate pair of leggings!

The Stasia dress is another great basic with lots of variations that can be made again and again. Choose different necklines, skirt lengths and sleeve options for a lovely comfy dress you’ll want to wear everyday!

March

In March we had another two great handmade wardrobe builders - the Helens Closet Blackwood Cardigan and the Liesl and Co Geneva Blouse.

The Blackwood is a great layering piece and we had 3 different fabrics for you to choose from to make a lovely light weight spring version. This pattern also looks great made up in heavier weight fabrics too so is a good all-year-round pattern that you can customise to the season depending on your fabric choice.

The Geneva Blouse is a lovely simple style with a flattering v-neckline, centre back pleat and several sleeve style options. We had 3 lovely unique fabrics to choose from to give you a really special blouse that looks great paired up with jeans or trousers for a smarter look.

April

This month we brought you two kits that look great together but can also be easily paired with other items in your wardrobe - the Megan Nielsen Dawn Jeans and the Hey June Handmade Pheonix Top.

Following the popularity of our Cone Mill Denim Ginger Jeans kits in 2021, we were excited to bring you another jeans kit option, this time with a non-stretch Cone Denim and the versatile Dawn Jeans Pattern. With several different fly and leg cut options, this pattern has a lot of mileage and is a great way to boost your sewing skills and get a great garment that can be paired with your handmade tops for a full ‘me-made’ outfit.

The Phoenix top has some really lovely details and was made extra special in the kit as we paired it with a pretty embroidered border cotton double gauze.

May

As things started warming up weather wise for Summer here in the UK, we wanted to bring you some great garments you could wear over the coming months and picked out the Chalk and Notch Joy Jacket and the Sew Liberated Hinterland Dress.

Sourcing all the right bits for a project can be the hurdle that puts you off starting a project, but with the Sewing Society kits we get everything you need together and there is no better example of this than the Joy Jacket kit. We had custom made YKK open ended zips made in the right length to match the tone of the Meet Milk Tencel twill fabric perfectly! It gives a really professional finish to the project!

The Sew Liberated Hinterland Dress is another great pattern that can be tailored to the season by fabric choice and variation. We picked out some really lovely cotton/linen fabric for a lovely summary version!

June

This month was extra exciting as we released three NEW colourways of our popular exclusive ‘Chicacheetah’ print! We wanted to give you two garment options of this stunning colourful design and picked out the Closet Core Elodie Dress and the By Hand London Marie Shirt.

The Elodie dress is a lovely wrap around style with several length options and sleeve options. The release pleats under the bust and v-neck shaping created by the wrap are really flattering - this really is a show stopper dress!

The Marie Shirt has some lovely details from the pin tucks at the front and back yoke sections to the options for adding ruffles at the collar and the sleeve cuffs. The flowy fabric suits the looser, blousy style of the garment perfectly.

July

In July we brought you the ultimate summer trouser and a super comfy jumpsuit featuring the True Bias Emerson trousers and Paper Theory Zadie Jumpsuit.

The Emersons have neat pleats at the front for a sleek flatter finish paired with a comfortable elastic waistband at the back. We picked out three classic colours of our Ramie fabric that are super wearable and easy to pair with lots of other colours.

The Zadie Jumpsuit has been so popular in the sewing community and for those of you new to jumpsuits we wanted to give you a chance to make up a gorgeous version. A word of warning though, it’s rare anyone makes just one! It’s so comfortable and suitable for so many different fabrics that you can easily make lots of versions! We picked a more subtle Navy Sorona linen option along with printed stretch viscose twill, which is a great weight for a style like this - the little bit of stretch just adds even more comfort as well.
