Childrens/Teens

The g&g Stitch Academy - Tweens - Age 10-15 years

Do you have a crafty child who loves to use their imagination and make things. Well this half-termly after-school g&g stitch academy is the perfect place for them to get creative and learn how to use a range of textiles materials and tools (including the sewing machine), to make fun and exciting craft and accessories projects, designed especially for their age group.

In this weekly class, students will learn how to thread up the sewing machine, how to change the settings to sew a straight and a zigzag stitch, and then they will complete one to two projects that they will be proud to show off.

Sewing projects will develop and change so students can join us with no experience, or if they have already attended the g&g Stitch Academy before there will be plenty of new projects to inspire them! From a patchwork cushion covers, to mini bunting to decorate their bedroom, to pencil cases and pyjama shorties, there will be no stopping them once they have learnt the basics.

PLEASE NOTE - If the class is showing as fully booked, please contact us on [email protected] and we can check availability. Sometimes we can experience a glitch in the website where the workshop appears as fully booked when it is not. We are fixing it as soon as possible.

This is a half-termly after-school craft club for tweens aged 10-15 years. There are 5/6 weekly sessions per course. Depending on skill level and ability the children will make up between 2 mini projects, or one big project, if it is a more complex project such as a garment.

*Please note that for larger projects such as clothing, you may need to purchase fabric to use in the class. You will be notified in advance of this so you have time to get it.

"My daughter is absolutely loving sewing and is so excited to come each week. She is eager to join the next term so I’ve signed her up again. Thank you so much for doing this - it’s an amazing life skill that I'd love to encourage!"

Helen Murray

Helen discovered her love of craft from a young age, always making and creating things as a child with her mom and sister. Her nan, a talented dressmaker, has been of huge inspiration to her over the years and sparked her interest in making garments.

Helen studied Fashion & Textiles Design at Leeds University, and here her passion for learning new skills and techniques developed. Previously a secondary school teacher of Design & Technology and Textiles, she loves nothing more than inspiring children to be creative, learn new skills and make things that they can be proud of. With over 14 years of teaching experience she has taught a wide range of ages and cannot wait to teach the future generation of sewists here at the g&g Stitch Academy.
