The g&g Stitch Academy - Tweens - Age 10-13 years

Do you have a crafty child who loves to use their imagination and make things. Well this half-termly after-school g&g stitch academy is the perfect place for them to get creative and learn how to use a range of textiles materials and tools (including the sewing machine), to make fun and exciting craft and accessories projects, designed especially for their age group.

In this weekly class, students will learn how to thread up the sewing machine, how to change the settings to sew a straight and a zigzag stitch, and then they will complete two projects that they will be proud to show off. From a patchwork cushion cover to a mini string of bunting to decorate their bedroom, there will be no stopping them once they have learnt the basics.

Running Time
5.00pm - 6.00pm

Helen Murray

Helen discovered her love of craft from a young age, always making and creating things as a child with her mom and sister. Her nan, a talented dressmaker, has been of huge inspiration to her over the years and sparked her interest in making garments.

Helen studied Fashion & Textiles Design at Leeds University, and here her passion for learning new skills and techniques developed. Previously a secondary school teacher of Design & Technology and Textiles, she loves nothing more than inspiring children to be creative, learn new skills and make things that they can be proud of. With over 14 years of teaching experience she has taught a wide range of ages and cannot wait to teach the future generation of sewists here at the g&g Stitch Academy.
