Are your little ones itching to get stitching? Well this half-termly after-school g&g stitch academy is the perfect place for them to get creative and learn how to use a range of materials and tools, to make fun and exciting craft projects.

In this weekly class, students will learn how to use the sewing machine to make a simple projects that they will be proud to show off.

Sewing projects will develop and change so students can join us with no experience, or if they have already attended the g&g Stitch Academy before there will be plenty of new projects to inspire them! From tote bags and purses, and cushions to elasticated skirts and scrunchies, there will be no stopping them once they have learnt the basics.

About this workshop

This is a half-termly after-school craft club for children aged 7-9 years. There are 5/6 weekly sessions per course. Depending on skill level and ability the children will make up between 2-3 mini projects, or one big project, if it is a more complex project such as a garment.

Upon completion of the 5/6 sessions included in this course, new students will receive a Sewing Machine Driving Certificate to congratulate them for their hard work and new sewing skills they have learnt.

"My child is loving the classes so much - it’s great to see! We’re really pleased that they can continue next term with new projects"

"My daughter is absolutely loving the classes, which is a joy to see. She has a bit of a history of feeling too nervous and uncomfortable about any out of school activities, and tries to pull out, but she lives for Tuesdays and wishes it was Tuesday every day!"

Helen Murray

Helen discovered her love of craft from a young age, always making and creating things as a child with her mom and sister. Her nan, a talented dressmaker, has been of huge inspiration to her over the years and sparked her interest in making garments.

Helen studied Fashion & Textiles Design at Leeds University, and here her passion for learning new skills and techniques developed. Previously a secondary school teacher of Design & Technology and Textiles, she loves nothing more than inspiring children to be creative, learn new skills and make things that they can be proud of. With over 14 years of teaching experience she has taught a wide range of ages and cannot wait to teach the future generation of sewists here at the g&g Stitch Academy.
