The g&g Stitch Academy Kids Summer Sewing Workshop - Beginners

Do you have a crafty child or teenager who is inspired by the Sewing Bee? Do they want to learn how to use a sewing machine but don't know where to start? Do you want to find something fun and imaginative to keep them occupied during the School Summer Holidays?

Across two 2 hour morning sessions (4 hours in total), over two consecutive days, students will learn how to use a range of materials and sewing tools, including the sewing machine. They will then put their new skills into practice as they make their very own summer beach bag.

In this fun workshop, students will learn how to cut out their choice of fabric, how to make and attach a utility pocket, and will make a super cute lined beach bag. If they have time they can attach a range of pom pom or ribbon trimmings.

Helen Murray

Helen discovered her love of craft from a young age, always making and creating things as a child with her mom and sister. Her nan, a talented dressmaker, has been of huge inspiration to her over the years and sparked her interest in making garments.

Helen studied Fashion & Textiles Design at Leeds University, and here her passion for learning new skills and techniques developed. Previously a secondary school teacher of Design & Technology and Textiles, she loves nothing more than inspiring children to be creative, learn new skills and make things that they can be proud of. With over 14 years of teaching experience she has taught a wide range of ages and cannot wait to teach the future generation of sewists here at the g&g Stitch Academy.
