Sew a Gorgeous Swishy Dress

Learn how to make a gorgeous dress in this fun one day workshop! Choose between these three beautiful swishy dress patterns!

The Friday Pattern Company Wilder Gown - this classic buffet style dress features two gathers tiers that can be customised to different lengths. With raglan sleeves and a tie neckband it can be styled in different ways and worn open to tied in a cute bow.

The Tilly and the Buttons Lotta Dress - This easy to make, with no fiddly bits, dress is perfect for confident beginners. It has a blousy bodice and flared skirt, cinched in with a narrow elasticated waistline. Choose between knee-length or midi-length skirt, with grown-on short sleeves or bracelet-length drop shoulder sleeves, with optional deep patch pockets. To make it even more versatile, you can make this dress in either woven fabric or stretchy jersey but for this class, please opt for a woven fabric.

  • Your own copy of the pattern you choose to make at home again and again (Wilder: Sizes XS-7X, bust 32"-60", waist 24"-53", hips 34"-63". Lotta: UK sizes 6-24, bust 30"-48", waist 24"-42", hips 33"-51") If you fall out of the size range of the pattern included, please let us know in advance and we can arrange an alternative for you
  • Use of all sewing machines, tools and equipment
  • Tea/coffee and biscuits (please bring a packed lunch or visit some of the lovely local cafes)

Please get in touch and we can advise on what you'll need to bring, depending on your pattern of choice.

This will include fabric, matching thread and any other notions you may need.

Dee Cain

Dee has always had a keen interest in sewing and at the age of 9 she was taught to sew by her mum.As a teenager, Dee used her sewing skills to make fashionable schools skirts for herself and her friends.

After secondary education Dee knew that she wanted her career to be sewing related so studied for industry qualifications and worked in many areas of clothing production.

Having chosen to become a sewing tutor in 2017, Dee is keen to embed good sewing practices into beginners so that their work is always of a high standard and they can be proud of their sewing skills.
