Do you crave some time away to just focus on sewing? Let us take care of you whilst you focus on your next big sewing project in our new and improved, blissful 3 day sewing retreat in our beautiful Moseley studio.
Getting some 'me time' and looking after yourself has never been easier, with lunch taken care of and an added relaxing yoga class, you'll have all the headspace you need to work on making a lovely new coat or jacket.
Choose from a selection of gorgeous patterns that will teach you valuable dressmaking skills. As everyone in the class will be working on different projects, you’ll be able to enjoy and benefit from various demonstrations relating to the different patterns.
You will learn
How to adapt your chosen pattern to take into account style variations and sizing adaptations as needed
How to work with the appropriate fabrics for your project to get the best results and finish
Demonstrations on outerwear techniques including: how to draft your own lining, how to make a welt pocket, how to make a bound button hole, how to add piping to a lining, how to make your own quilted thinsulate lining as well as any other requested demos relating to the garments being made that can be done within the time available. If there is something specific you would like to cover, please let us know before hand and we can confirm if it will be possible
To get the most out of this class, you will need recent experience (within the last 6 months) of using and working with sewing patterns independently.
The most straightforward option is the Papercut Waver jacket, or for more of a challenge, opt for one of the other patterns. Please note that you won't get your project completely finished during the 3 days, but we can provide additional support via the closed facebook group for 2 weeks following the retreat.
We can provide more detailed advice and information on request, but from past retreats most people who have chosen to make the Kelly Anorak have managed to get their zip inserted and still have the sleeves to set in along with other finishing touches like the attaching the hood.
We currently have two dates available for this retreat:
- Evening reception on Thursday 24th January followed by three full days on Friday 25th, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th January 2019
- Evening reception on Sunday 17th February followed by three full days on Monday 18th, Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th February 2019.
