Make a coat sewing retreat - 3 days at our Moseley studio

Do you crave some time away to just focus on sewing? Let us take care of you whilst you focus on your next big sewing project in our new and improved, blissful 3 day sewing retreat in our beautiful Moseley studio.

Getting some 'me time' and looking after yourself has never been easier, with lunch taken care of and an added relaxing yoga class, you'll have all the headspace you need to work on making a lovely new coat or jacket.

Choose from a selection of gorgeous patterns that will teach you valuable dressmaking skills. As everyone in the class will be working on different projects, you’ll be able to enjoy and benefit from various demonstrations relating to the different patterns.

Attendees are invited to come along to the shop on the eve of the first day to meet other attendees. During this welcome drinks reception, you'll have private shopping time in the shop and a chance to receive advice on the fabrics best suited to your project. Meet Layla who will be able to discuss your goals for the retreat and take your measurements 1 on 1, help you work through size choices and any alterations needed in preparation for the first day.

To help you get the most out of the retreat we will be inviting you to join a closed facebook group for attendees and the tutor to chat 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks following the retreat. This forum will give us a chance to get to know each other and tailor the 3 days to your preferences. If you need any ongoing help following the retreat, the tutor will continue to participate in the group for a few more weeks and answer any questions. After that time, the attendees will still have access to the group to chat and share makes with each other.

We want to make the sewing experience as social, inclusive and relaxing as we can so, also included in the price is lunch each day from a lovely gorgeous local cafe as well as a completely beginner friendly, relaxing and restorative yoga class in the beautiful I am yogi park based yoga studio.

I AM YOGI is a a dedicated space for yoga practice located in the beautiful, tranquil setting of Moseley Park & Pool. Designed to bring the outdoors in, with the view from inside the studio looking out onto the surrounding trees. The calm and peaceful setting provides a perfect environment for yoga practice and finding some time for yourself on the mat.

Skill level

To get the most out of this class, you will need recent experience (within the last 6 months) of using and working with sewing patterns independently.

The most straightforward option is the Papercut Waver jacket, or for more of a challenge, opt for one of the other patterns. Please note that you won't get your project completely finished during the 3 days, but we can provide additional support via the closed facebook group for 2 weeks following the retreat.

We can provide more detailed advice and information on request, but from past retreats most people who have chosen to make the Kelly Anorak have managed to get their zip inserted and still have the sleeves to set in along with other finishing touches like the attaching the hood.
