Zipper Cosmetics Bag - Confident Beginners

In this fun adults workshop, sew up a sophisticated cosmetics bag to give as a Christmas gift for a special someone (or as as a little treat for yourself!) This workshop could also be a nice social sewing session for you to take part in with your creative friends.

This 3 hour class is suitable for confident beginners who know how to use a sewing machine to make simple projects, but want to progress their sewing skills to learn how to insert a zipper. It's not as difficult as is seems folks!

Using a selection of these gorgeous Indigo Sevenberry Japanese Cotton Fabrics, and a contrasting metal toothed ochre zip, you will leave this course with a beautiful professional looking cosmetic bag that is fully lined. You will be provided with everything you need to make x1 cosmetic bag using your two beautifully coordinating Sevenberry fabrics.

You will also be given your own paper pattern and set of instructions to take away with you, so when you go home you can make more cosmetic bags to give as gifts for people.

  • How to cut fabric out accurately using a paper pattern
  • How to use a sewing machine (please note the sewing machines will be pre-threaded up so you can focus purely on the construction of your project. You will not be taught how to thread it up and wind up etc due to the limited time)

  • What interfacing is and what it is used for

Please note, you will have enough time (and materials) to make ONE cosmetic bag during your workshop.

Level 3 - This class is suitable for confident beginners who have already have some experience using a sewing machine to make simple projects. You should be confident using a sewing machine, cutting fabric, pressing seams, using pins and sewing simple seams.

If you are an experienced sewist...but you wish to join in, you are still welcome to come along.

This class is for adults only, and not designed for children.

  • Two fat quarters of coordinating Sevenberry Japanese Cotton Fabrics that coordinate beautifully with each other
  • One ochre 21cm metal tooth zip
  • Interfacing
  • Use of all sewing machines, tools and equipment
  • Tea/coffee and biscuits

Dee Cain

Dee has always had a keen interest in sewing and at the age of 9 she was taught to sew by her mum.As a teenager, Dee used her sewing skills to make fashionable schools skirts for herself and her friends.

After secondary education Dee knew that she wanted her career to be sewing related so studied for industry qualifications and worked in many areas of clothing production.

Having chosen to become a sewing tutor in 2017, Dee is keen to embed good sewing practices into beginners so that their work is always of a high standard and they can be proud of their sewing skills.
